Official word from ES:

We’re certainly planning to continue doing all future seasons of The Walking Dead in steelbook with matching artwork – it looks likely season 4 will be out in September 2014 as it follows the same pattern as Game of Thrones (i.e. the new season hits DVD and Blu-Ray just before the new season starts).

We’ve been told that the steelbooks will feature in the US Walking Dead magazine, so likely to be quite a bit of international interest for these.

The Entertainment Store is pleased to announce our latest exclusive steelbook releases: Seasons 1, 2 and 3 of The Walking Dead, AMC’s Emmy Award winning TV series.

Each season features world exclusive artwork by Mark Simpson AKA Jock, who is responsible for some of best regarded comics and art of this generation, having worked on 2000AD, The Losers and Hellblazer amongst others as well as producing artwork for many major film studios, including the artwork for HDN Steelbook of the Year 2012 winner The Raid.

NB: Due to the number of discs needed for all episodes and extras, Season 3 has to be in a Jumbo format case.

Season 1 is a 15 certificate meaning it's the cut version. PASS!
I have waited and waited for the uncut version to come to the UK and I don't think it's ever going to happen.

The only thing I'm gutted with is seeing the 15 cert on the side. The UK release was cut for season 1. I can't understand why they did that when seasons 2 & 3 are both 18

They messed up and gave us the same version as the Germans. We did get the uncut pilot, but the rest of the season was the cut versions. When it aired on the FX channel the whole season was uncut. They have never rectified this problem and I don't think they ever will.

The studio sent pre cut episodes to the BBFC, the full versions would have been passed uncut. 2 episodes of season 2 have got very minor cuts as well, unfortunately this seems to have affected every release worldwide

LOVE the artwork. Shame season 3 will be jumbo. I'd rather lose the bonus disc and have it slimline but I'll probably be small majority that would prefer that. Regardless tho I'll still be purchasing these no question

This is great news. I love the show and I got my us buddy to pick me up the the jumbo for season 3 when it went on sale for release week.

I've got season 1 as I managed to get us region locked cheap but I do like steels so if the price is reasonable ill double dip.
