Official word from ES:

We’re certainly planning to continue doing all future seasons of The Walking Dead in steelbook with matching artwork – it looks likely season 4 will be out in September 2014 as it follows the same pattern as Game of Thrones (i.e. the new season hits DVD and Blu-Ray just before the new season starts).

We’ve been told that the steelbooks will feature in the US Walking Dead magazine, so likely to be quite a bit of international interest for these.

The Entertainment Store is pleased to announce our latest exclusive steelbook releases: Seasons 1, 2 and 3 of The Walking Dead, AMC’s Emmy Award winning TV series.

Each season features world exclusive artwork by Mark Simpson AKA Jock, who is responsible for some of best regarded comics and art of this generation, having worked on 2000AD, The Losers and Hellblazer amongst others as well as producing artwork for many major film studios, including the artwork for HDN Steelbook of the Year 2012 winner The Raid.

Be interesting to see the price points on these. I hate to be negative but with this being an ES release I can see these being quite pricey which will price me out of these, especially when you can pick up the regular amarays relatively cheap now.

However, it's great news for HDN to break the news on these

Agree, except about the price of the regular amarays - they came in at £65 when I checked yesterday.

And just found out I'm in a conference from 9.30am until 3.30pm tomorrow so won't be around to order even if I have a moment of madness!!

You should be OK, I can't see people buying multiples of these given the cost. I bet they'll be available a while.

Well ES have only done one Entertainment One title so far, 2 Guns and that was reasonably priced at £17.99. So I wouldn't bet on the price being extortionate like everybody is predicting here.

Season 1 (2 Discs) - amaray is £12.49 @ WOWHD

Not relevant to this but a good price - Season 1 & 2 is £21.39 @ Base.com

Season 3 (5 Discs) - £30 is right, cheapest is £29.99

I've not bought a steelbook for a few months but these might be too hard to resist. I'll probably get the 1st and 2nd seasons and just stick with the digipack for season 3.
