I'm going to take a guess this will be embossed with a spot gloss finish

So far the all the Steelbook Slipcover releases
Paramount Films have been embossed with spot gloss finish
Universal Films have been matte finish and not embossed

Even though Universal Pictures are the Distributors for both Paramount Blu-ray and Universal Blu-ray in Europe
Warriors is a Paramount Film

C'mon Zavvi.

This is released in one week, get with it.
It will be live when Zavvi has this actually in stock at the warehouse
There won't be a pre order in advance

Release date may change to an earlier or later date

As soon as Zavvi have this in stock that is when it goes live to order

This is to stop scalpers knowing in advance as to when it's available to order

Are they really making a conscious effort to stop scalpers or was this steelbook just offered to them late in the day without a lot of warning?

It's bypassing pre order and going live when in stock
It's not perfect solution but if the scalpers don't know when going live it's harder for them to be ready in advance

It's already known when it's going live and those that have been told can't let that been known until they allowed to share the details

You will see members post very quickly in the thread when it does go live and Zavvi will post announce the release + it's live on twitter

Best to keep an eye on Zavvi website and Twitter

This will only happen with low print run and expected high demand releases which will be only the odd release as it's only a very few releases that can sell out quickly
If scalpers know in advance it's not good for the customers who are the real collectors

I honestly don't think that will stop anything. By not advertising a "live" time, some members of all groups (hard-core collectors, casual collectors, and resellers) will miss out. That's just more for those who do know the "live" time or monitor the page. There will be angry people from all groups after this is sold out. If they know that there's so much demand, why not just make more? Instead of playing silly games.

Already listed on eBay :censored: Saying that the release date is the 21st of November, will take it with a pinch of salt but you never know

Hah, your probably right. Offered late and then zavvi trying pulling a honourable move. We see through you zavvi lol

IMO it's pointless just putting it up live. Anyones who's madly interested in this might miss out if they don't know a date.
At least then you get a date and time and subtract 40 mins from the time lol
If you miss it after that then it's your own fault

Scalpers will still buy them.
What people don't realise half the time is that scalpers are members on all these sites anyway lol

And please don't anyone reply to me by saying "well they should watch watch the thread". Not everyone looks at the site every day or even their emails

If they limited the order to 1 per account (doing this first and not just cancelling the mass orders at a later date) will at least slow scalpers down when ordering using multiple accounts and give people that actually want to own the steelbook/movie a fighting chance to order a copy at retail price. zavvi need to sort out their systems to accommodate 1 order per account on these low print run stock.. much better than having this random live time thing.. IT was pretty much random, very little notice and a lot of us missed out cos of that, there was nothing stopping people ordering multiple copies when that went live with an hours notice and this will go down the exact same way.. unless zavvi sort out their ordering system.. other retailers can do it so why not zavvi.. collectors will definitely miss out on this cos sadly nothing has changed.

If they are worried about selling out to scalpers why not increase the print run - The Warriors is a well known popular title, its bound to sell well if not sell out completely

ARE Zavvi really worried about scalpers? Everybody knows it goes on, it's never gonna stop.
At the end of the day, Zavvi are in the retail sector and they want to sell their product. To anybody.
Or maybe it's a ploy from Zavvi to build up interest to sell out quickly?
No matter, I hope I get the Zavvi email when it goes live.
Good luck Ninjas ;)

If they know that there's so much demand, why not just make more?
I'm guessing that they are not totally convinced . . . and that they'd rather err on the side of caution for this catalogue release long available (since October 2008) here in the U.K. in an Amaray edition and added to that is the fact that it's the exact same disc inside !

IMO testing the water with a reported 2,000 print run to see how well they sell on the day and depending on the result not difficult to request a further 2,000 to be printed post haste . . .

Front artwork has been covered in an earlier post and let's not forget the other famous artwork used here on the steelbook Back cover - also derived from an original one-sheet poster design:-

Black Hole reviewed this DIRECTOR'S CUT edition back in 2007.http://blackholereviews.blogspot.co.uk/2007/10/warriors-1979-ultimate-directors-cut.html

As far as I can tell the THEATRICAL CUT is only available on DVD warriorsmovie.co.uk/tie-ins/directors-cut

Both front and back artwork dead famous and easily recognised from the masses of previous home video releases on VHS, Laserdisc, Soundtrack album, DVD etc.

Below a few examples of use of the most famous image on early VHS artwork - most Laserdisc, PlayStation, DVD / DVD steelbook and Xbox artwork used this image also but the only HD edition I've seen with this image in the past ten years is a German Blu-ray.

In conclusion: would have been a more satisfactory release had it been Dual Format with the DVD THEATRICAL CUT included.
Obviously better still to have been both cuts in HD as in "One Movie, Two Cuts"

I'd be all over this if it wasn't the ****** director's cut. (What was he thinking!)

Guess it will still be DVD for a while longer then
