If you don't like this one, wait almost 3 months to buy it and see it (unless you've already seen it in the theater) and pay more. I get it that it's ugly compred to to other releases, but I'm happy I can go to a store, pick it up for a good price (5% off for Target Red Card Holders). I don't think buying this steel is going to enourage inferior releases in the US either. We just got Thor 2 about a month ago which was a fine steel, so I don't think we're going to see a drop off in quality over one steel.

The way I see it, if you really like the movie, get both. Get this to open and watch because it's cheaper and you get it sooner, and display the UK/German or Czech version.

Here I come Target at 8am!

thats why i saw it a second time in theaters, to the memory alive till the UK release:thumbs:

Pretty Syked about this. Ready for tomorrow, 8am launch. Might grab a spare if there all cherry. I'm excited to watch the movie again. I originally saw this movie the day it opened, last Christmas. That another hobby. It was Django Unchained they year before that, my other favorite director. Django got a Proper US SB treatment.

This is the most dull SteelBook I have ever seen. They did not spend more than five seconds designing it. Future Shop Spider-man SBs look like gems compared to this.

I only saw two mixed in with the amarays but looking at the Canadian thread, it looks like they had a cardboard display stand. I didn't see that at my Target, but, Target is notorious for not being ready with products on display at the time they open.

So went ahead and picked this up today as the price is the same as the amray so hard to resist...

First store had about 8 out & no display shelf- every copy with an awful spine splash. Went to a second store who had the display up front with ~15 copies and literally went them all and only able to find 1 copy without scratches/paint chips/dents of some sort. If you are picking one up today give it a careful look if you want a mint copy- reminded me a lot of Django and trying to find a mint steel.

Every single one at my store appeared to be mint.. sorry about your luck.

See, I knew there would be a display. Hate to say it but I prefer when Wal Mart gets exclusives. At least when they open, their displays are up and everything is ready to go.

When you go to Target and ask them about a steelbook, this is their expression

Yeah I passed on this when I was at Target this morning. There were about 10 of them at my store, all with spine slashes and paint chips. Saves me $20 I guess.

Hope this is the case for others- and I may be a little OCD when I actually get to pick out my own steels since they are so infrequent in the US. Most were very minor issues overall and was probably more cirtical as it was the second Target I stopped at

Yeah I know the feeling- and in case it helps was just a dislay shelf to sit at the checklanes and not one of the freestanding ones though, so didn't hold a ton and was split between 1/3 steel, 1/3 amray, and 1/3 DVD it looked like

I just went to the first of 3 stores that are on my way to work. They only had 5 copies out, but there wasn't a single one that was MINT. Same issues as you're describing: scratches in the paint, spine slashes, dented corners and MANY a paint chip. I took the 3 best copies in case by time I get to my lunch break, there aren't any left. What's worse is that I thought I had found mint copies. Wasn't until I had already gotten into my car that I noticed some of the flaws on these. With the yellow paint, some can be a little difficult to spot at first. So as warned previously, look carefully before purchasing. And at the counter, ask to inspect your copy(-ies) after they take them out of the alpha case(s).

Even though this steelbook is kind of lackluster, I was REALLY looking forward to it, because I'm a HUGE fan of the movie, actors and director. And I don't care what a steelbook looks like, if it's the same price as the amaray, that's AWESOME! These flaws are a little disappointing though. Hopefully I can switch these out at a different store for some minty's or at least some with fewer flaws.
