The photo is of a production case and so the matte finish is terrible. The original is far superior.

Regardless of where these are made; Denmark, Austria, US, China; it is Scanavo the company that should ensure the quality of the finished product.

Its clear to see the quality of steelbooks have gotten progressively worse over the years. Thinner metal, streaky matte finish, paint chips, misaligned spines, off colour palettes.

Blufans have posted a message on their forum and it looks like they are reviewing their position with Scanavo.

Well this will be delayed.

Which is great news for me because I am having troubles with paypal ATM, so at least this is one release I don't have to worry about this year.

At least blufans are as p*ssed as we are.

This is probably the real issue that should be looked into, whether or not Scanavo are cutting corners. If this was a one-off thing, then fair enough, mistakes happen. But this right after what happened to Iron Man is a bit much.

I've only been collecting steels for just over a year now, but even I know that the amount of steels being released these days is way more than a few years ago. You put too much workload and pressure on a business, then the end result will always be cut corners and poor quality. I wouldn't expect the proift margin the make on steels to warrant investment in additional equipment so they could be trying to do more with the same equipment they've always had - just a guess...

so is the steel matte or glossy ?

I have to admit I find this quite amusing. For years collectors have preached about how much better Asian Steelbooks are, how the quality control is better etc. but it seems that a lot of problems are occurring with Asian releases at the moment. On a serious note, there does seem to be a quality control issue at Scanavo but as long as and retailers/studios keep ordering them and we keep buying them, nothing is going to change.

Are you confusing the quality of the manufactured steelbook, with the quality of movies in steelbook packaging that are released by Asian retailers? For the latter, Asian steelbook releases are generally better quality (slips, extras like booklets, cards, etc)

No. I am referring to myths such as Asian Steelbooks using thicker metal and things like that.

Well said. The Steelbook is just a flimsy piece of metal. Comes from someone who does customisations. The plastic is what that makes it feel thick. Also these flyers and booklet give an impression as if the Steelbook is better quality which IMO is BS

I can understand why Kevin and Blufans must be furious with Scanavo. So many mistakes with them recently and it's their mistakes NOT the Asian retailers...(n)

Where to start with this....The Border, Non centered title, Matte finish.....Just awful...EEK!:banghead::angry:
I have faith in Blufans to get this sorted.

It also makes me love my Korean Godzilla Futurepak all the more with it's heavier metal, super flawless gloss finish and spectacular embossing...:drool:
I would happily buy more with that kind of quality....

Funny you mention the futurepak, as I was about to comment that since Scanavo has a monopoly on the steelbook, perhaps Blufans will go the way of futurepaks in the near future.

Could you imagine the uproar in this forum? :p
