I just picked up this HMV sealed THOR for £62 on ebay auction to complete my avengers set after getting a sealed HMV cpt america last week for £60 buy it now, still bargains to be had if you look hard enough. do i get an award for owning them all?

congrats ! enjoy your steelbook,

anything highly collectible will always have a premium in the secondary market. i've seen others pay for more than that for an OOP.

...

when thor hmv shoots up to $200 by itself, i think those who own it will have the last laugh ;)

sold my german copy for $180 (but only to fund for the thor helmet set) so whether you like thor or not or think the art sucks, makes no difference to those who do own a copy. These babies are beautiful, clean and high in value

Ain't bothered about this or CA. Poor, overrated films IMO. Iron Mans are the only marvel steelbooks you need.

Agreed but I buy steelbooks of films i like and to open and watch. Don't see the point of not opening or buying steelbooks of sh*t films just because they look nice. Each to their own though. Think a lot of people like bragging rights of having one that has gone up in value and OOP.

Hmmm... £122 for 2 steelbooks sounds like a right bargain. :hilarious:

It seems you have nothing positive to say about this release (or CA) so I would say that any further posts would just serve to wind other members of the forum up.

Perhaps you should take a breather from this thread and think about how you could contribute to another part of the forum in a more positive manner. Just a suggestion.

People bite far to easy on here. I can have my opinion. I'm obviously not as obsessed as some on here. Just don't get why people pay that sort of money for an average film. Probably just to say they own it. Agreed it looks nice. Just shows everyone's different. I have a collection of opened steelbooks of films i enjoy looking at and watching over and over again. Thought that was the point.... Calm down and enjoy looking at your sealed OOP steelbooks. You'll be millionaires in no time. ;)

Sorry. Didn't realise everything had to be positive. Won't say anymore. Cheers.

I fell into the trap of starting my collection too late. I picked up Thor and Captain America for £100 - I could afford it at the time and I am now content I have them. The the rule for me now, is I will only pay a maximum of £25 for a steel book.

It was either spend £100 on 10-15 "meh" titles, or get the above two, that I really wanted. It can be an expensive hobby. Collecting them is already addictive!

P.S - I always open my steel books. Not a fan of buying 8 copies and flogging them on Ebay

:yeahthat:

I pruned my pre-orders recently as well.

I went down the amaray route for Marvel Phase 1, for some reason. :dunno:

I'm slowly picking the steels up now though, only Avengers and Incredible Hulk needed now. I'll wait and see if I can get a good deal on those. Hopefully like the amazing deal last Thursday for Captain America (£31 :D), thank's again digidiv, for that one .

Decided quality over quantity was the way to go.

The great thing about double dipping for a steel book is that you can sell the amaray version, to go towards the cost.

Yeah, good point. But I'll be keeping my Phase 1's sealed though, so they are still very much in service.

Oh :welcome: to the forum as well PKAVFC

It has nothing to do with being positive or negative. Your posts are simply divisive and add no value to forum discussions

Just to put in my completely unrequested 10 cents - the value of anything is in the eye of the beholder. I would personally never pay £100ish for sealed Steelbooks - that simply doesn't compute for me but on the other hand, I collect comics also and recently dropped £126 on a 13 issue set that I won't read but will bag, board and save for a rainy day sale sometime in the next couple of years - I imagine for others that would seem unfathomable also.

As long as spend your hard earned cash on something that holds value in your own eyes, rather than blowing it on hookers and crack, then fair play.

EDIT: Not that hookers and crack is a bad way to spend an evening - just not both at the same time, something always ends up "pear shaped" <-- sometimes I share too much, time too retreat slowly into a corner methinks.

I hope the Thor 2 steelbook design will be in line with this one.
Knowing what Thor has become (value, popularity, etc.), I am sure a Thor 2 steelbook will sell out within 24 hours.

I hope so too, but with the recent Iron Man 3 release I'm not so sure anymore.

Oh I get it now. It's about the rarity & value not about buying a film you like to open and watch again and again. My bad.
