This is such good work by Zavvi, not only as a re release but also by making the HMV. Version worth absolute zilch because the art on this is far superior. What a great job by Zavvi, definitely my fav retailer of the decade. Brilliant prices too. How can this be beaten, great steels, great prices and everyone's happy.

EEK! :hilarious:

What d**gs are you on ?? Can I have some ? :hilarious::hilarious:

That statement is the best laugh I have had for months...

Anyway I am sticking with my HMV Copy as its Beautiful in its simplicity and a true classic IMO..

Hey now! I don't think drug deals are allowed on this message board! ;) :p

In all seriousness though, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that post just seems way too sarcastic to be real....

I still have this on pre-order and even if I happen to score an HMV Thor, I will still likely keep this pre-ordered just because. It's still a Marvel steelbook and I'm still a collector.

I have no problem with that but in every zavvi thread the same post !!

Plus as Flip said theres a big difference in being positive and talking Bullsh*t...:p

Well in answer to everyone's questions, firstly thank you, I am glad I've given a few of you some laughs, but I am deadly serious, to me this release of THor smashes the HMV version in every respect. Yes I do own a copy of he hmv version and CA come to that. There's not many i haven't got. But in all seriousness this version is wicked, innit, love the art, love the price and what is there not too love about Zavvi and HDN at the moment. Collecting is at its best right now, lots of choices, fantastic pricing, ok ok there not as cheap as when play were doing it, so what have you heard of inflation, well this is what we call Zinflation and thanks to Zavvi Ian am one more than happy collector right now. I'm a steelbook collector seen 24/7 that's it.

Bull-Oh-Knee.

Post a pic with your user name in the background with those 2 steelbooks.

If you do post a pic of original Thor and Capt Am steels with "blumark007 + date", you will gain a lot more rapport around here when you post. Not that you have to own those steels to gain rapport. (I don't own either, but then again, I never said I did). At least then people will be like... "Oh snap! blumark007 is for real".

Until then, nobody will believe anything you say.

Calm down please kids

blumark - your posts are quite overenthusiastic and it's a shame but that will probably count against you on most forums. Zavvi have an unusual reputation and it seems the masses are split as to whether they do or don't like them or the way they do things.

I guess, in the same way that no-one really wants every post that someone makes to be a negative Zavvi bashing, the same can be said for every post someone makes singing their praises and not about anything else. Changing the record every so often never hurt anyone.

And if you ask me, until we see the Zavvi Thor in the flesh then the HMV / original one is the only one that can be classed as the best version as it is the only one actually available. Simple logic. If it gets released and is unanimously recognised as the better version then that would be the point to lay such a claim

Plus...re-releases don't tend to be worth more than the original. Ever. It just doesn't seem to happen despite what anyone says. What it might do is bring the price down of the original temporarily but the re-release would then remain at an even lower market price. So in theory, as you based your comment around value, no one who is interested in value will really win. Art and beauty are subjective so I won't bother commenting on that side of it

jimmy - There is an option to ignore specific people's posts so if you feel that you can't handle the enthusiasm / falsity / call it what you will, then you should just block out blumarks posts. And I'd hold off sending over your email addy va pm as it wouldn't surprise me if a virus ended up heading your way

No-one is really doing anything wrong in this scenario. Just seems they're not doing it right either :(

I don't own the original nor will I be buying this version. I cant' bring myself to settle for something second best when I know the HMV version smashes it compared to this.

This could be embossed to the hilt with a super gloss finish, however as the old saying goes, " you cant polish a turd"

IMO :D

While Blumark007 may be somwhat over enthusiastic, taking his comments at face value it's possible he does like this version more, and might have the originals.

I've said all along that I have the HMV versions of Thor and Captain America, they were ironically enough the first 2 Blu-ray steelbooks I bought. Nevertheless, I prefer the fronts of the Zavvi versions of both movies (I like poster art, what can I say?), the spines are nearly identical on both (especially Thor) and the backs are neither here nor there to me as I don't spend time looking at them.

So, in terms of overall design I wouldn't really care which versions I owned. Having said that, the HMV versions contain DVDs (yes, I have a need for them) so they win overall.

It does seem to be Paramount's new policy to reuse existing Blu-ray covers when it comes to catalogue titles (can we stop blaming Zavvi now?) and while some like War of the Worlds look great, others don't. It's just one of those things.

As for his other comments; the price is still pretty high, but it could have been worse. And it probably won't devalue the HMV version (not that I care personally if it does) as it's still the preferred version for most people. It's true to some extent Zavvi are flooding the market with steelbooks, be it catalogue titles or new releases. Does that make collecting them less fun? I don't know. I only buy the ones I want so to me, the more titles that get the steelbook treatment the more likely a movie I love will get one. I can see how others might get annoyed that they're no longer few and far between. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.
