I'm just happy to own a steelbook of Thor as the OTT prices being offered for previous versions put me off....

regardless of price wise, most would agree the original HMV one is a better steel. Re-releases are good for those that missed out and nothing wrong with that. If we had to differentiate between quality the HMV one ticks the box.

So it's an easy choice, pay more and silly prices for the premium original, or get cost price for a re-release that would do the job, easy as that :)

Buddy, IMO I would have to disagree with your comments. I own both versions and was hoping the zavvi will actually top off the HMV one (even though I already knew it had little chance) so I can sell off my HMV one for a good price and a little to cash to spend on some xmas steels :) But it is not the case! So I guess I have to keep the HMV one :p

Zavvi is good for people that missed out, but quality wise it's just not as good as the HMV one. Have both in your hands you can feel and see for yourself. If you have the original HMV one, keep it.

Fair enough you have your reasons and what's best for you
that's what is important for you that counts

I only buy to keep I never will or have I ever bought any Blu-ray be it a steelbook or digibook to sell

Each person is different of course but me its about collecting not to make money

I am giving you an 'impartial' response because you stated that original HMV owners are just saying that it is better. I would had kept the zavvi one if it was decent, it doesnt have to be better, and sold off the HMV one. Nothing to do with re-selling or here to make money. Quite simply it could had been better and not just saying that because I have the HMV one. Same applies to Captain America.

Just quick remainder folks this is thread about Thor from zavvi not HMV :D
It is lazy back artwork but still happy with mine 16 £ spending. Just save some cash for walking dead:scat::scat::scat:

Sorry but will pass on this one is nothing compared to the first HMV release. In my opinion save your money and hunt down the first one its worth every penny (£)

I Agree that the first is much better but if I have to pay 3 to 4 times more its not worth it for me. I am more than willing to pay top dollar for a steel but it has to be for a movie I actually love. I already have this movie in 3d but just want the steel for the collection. But I totally agree that this steel does not compare to the original. I found one for 100 opened but hesitated too long and now I am happy to save the money and grab this one. I do agree that in comparison this is inferior.

I now own this and also have owned the Thailand release of Thor which looks the same as the Hmv version and without doubt it wins hands down over this new one. Had to pick up this new one to see what it looked like in the metal, it's ok, I'm pretty happy with it.

Really thought the goonies was going to be the start of awesome glossy finishes. This would've looked alot better with one. Hopefully wreck it ralph is full gloss. It's the steelbook that most deserves it in my opinion.

Well mine should be here on Monday, maybe the finish in hand will lessen the impact but the trouble with the HMV Thor was the glossy character on the black matt background looked like it had been printed out and stuck on. It's why I had no trouble selling mine and switching to this. Even if in hand this one disappoints, it's replacing the weakest Marvel steel anyway.

I caved and ordered this after I cancelled it initially. Overall, it looks decent. I think it's a good edition to the original Thor steelbook, but that one still reigns as the best Thor steelbook. This is a good runner up, which is still nothing to complain about.

I think iron man 2 takes the ticket. I only own captain america and avengers from hmv but I can't imagine thor looks that bad in person, especially considering its mosts peoples favourites  Unpopular opinion you have there :hilarious:

I know lol It's not bad, just very dull. But then there's peeps who love steelbooks that look as plain as possible. I don't think much of the Avengers one either but there wasn't a better alternative. I guess it's all subjective but I'm glad we're getting some different versions to pick and choose from. I like that this cover represents the film more clearly and the other key characters, just a shame about the back.

Hi All.

This post is not going to go down well with all, but hey... such is life.

This is no where near the quality of the HMV release, simple as. I buy steels to open and enjoy, so I have no interest in resale value.

This is the inferior version, simple as, but at the same time, for 15.99 and if you do not have/do not want to get the HMV release, it fills the gap.

However, it will never be in the same class as the HMV release and those that say it is, are in denial. I have read various messages saying it is better and it is just plain bull.

Its great a lot of people have picked this up at £15.99, but it will always be the inferior design. End of.

I hate the avengers steelbook. It's way to plain. In comparison, thor is the most over cluttered steelbook in the world as it has more than one letter on it and a character :hilarious:

yep I agree with you, the original is better. However I can't afford to buy that via eBay or wherever, so I'm perfectly happy with this one
