it doesn't matter. this will sell out. it is not like IM3 that has a worldwide release in multiple countries. this is now a catalogue title being released exclusively by Zavvi, with a gargantuan fanbase, many of whom cannot or will not pay for the HMV style version. all the naysayers here compaining about the artwork are gonna be kicking themselves when this become a collector's steelbook. go ahead and hide in the bushes and watch. :ugh:

;)

I bought this version because I didn't want to open my original.
As a non biased person, I can see why people may like this version more. The colours are more vibrant and it pops more.
And especially if you haven't seen the original in person, I think it's hard to appreciate the quality of it, so I don't get why people make a big deal when someone says they like this more.

If someone's not able or willing to get the original I don't think they should feel bad getting this at all. I don't even mind the back, it's not the nicest but it's not the worst and I think it works. There's something about this that I just really like.

your comparative photo here is much better than another one i had previously, cause it was way overexposed
i really rather the second version for its front artwork(i know i m in the very small majority, to each his own .. ;))

I think I took the bait somewhat yesterday, when people were comparing each version. I really do not buy any of my steels based on resale value, although I do just love a limited edition!:naughty:

I respect everyone's opinion, but the difference yesterday, was I spoke too much of mine about this title! This is a great website and I enjoy being part of this community, so no more said on it for me!

All in all, I think its good people can either start or complete their Marvel collection and that is only a good thing. :D

And no one has mentioned about a damaged Thor steel, turned a corner Zavvi?

Right, I am off to have a few more of these :chill pill:

Pity they changed the title colour to red. The tarnished metal look is way classier.

I guess it's just a straight copy of the 2D blu-ray amaray art but I really much prefer the 3D version art that Hmv used (minus clouds).

Its so annoying people more talking here about hmv than zavvi. Good for u guys (hmv version owners) I just try enjoy mine Thor from zavvi but not I have to read how hmv is good and zavvi is bad. U guys need find some more respect for new collector's cos not everyone have chance buy hmv version for a thena.

Definitely. Very frustrating the thread is being hijacked in this way. Having a debate is ok, but it's really starting to take over now...

I would have loved to have owned the original, but I can't afford it, so am very happy to have purchased this and look forward to getting it:thumbs:

Of course that works both ways. New collectors need to have respect for long term collectors who have supported the hobby from the beginning, which wouldn't be where it was today otherwise. In any case, collectors will always compare releases, it is inevitable and it's a part of collecting that makes thing interesting. If we weren't allowed to make comparisons it would be one less thing to argue about :p

Very true, but sometimes those that have collected from the beginning might need to be more understanding as to why new collectors are just that, new.

Not everyone adopted the Blu-ray format straight away for many reasons. Waiting to see if it would last, not having the funds at the time to get certain releases or indeed, maybe not even being old enough to have a job when Thor came out.

As I said in the FS Iron Man thread, for some people, buying the re-releases is a way of getting what they want at a more reasonable price. In fact, they may even prefer the re-release version. I hated the orignal white Star Trek with the blue banner so much that I bought the black Zavvi version and swapped the inner section over. I prefer the fronts of Zavvi's Thor and Captain America (this as someone who has the HMV versions) and had they been Blu-ray/DVD combi's would of happily re-bought them.

Each to their own of course.
