Pity they didn't offer the first Thor with 3d. That would have been something!!!

Well they just had the opportunity to do that with both the new Thor and Captain America steelbooks but they choose not to. Mind you the 3D was pretty crap for both films so it's no big loss. Hope the 3D is good this time. Pre-ordered :scat:

Well it's costing a fiver more to get this as a steelbook over the standard case. But whilst it will no doubt be worth it a fiver is pushing the upper limits over what a steelbook should cost over standard.

I may go ahead and pre-order this today.

One thing holding me back a bit... I see they list this as Region B. I haven't tested my HTPC with a 3D title to see if the GPU will handle it. I'm really due for an upgrade on that machine. Quick question... are all Zavvi discs Region B or do they sometimes post inaccurate information regarding region encoding? (kinda like Amazon)

Take this with a pinch of salt but I've just checked my copies of :-

The Caine Mutiny on the slip cover it says ABC but Zavvi only says Region B

War Games on the case it says ABC, Zavvi lists it as Region B

Not seeing this until the weekend but I am tempted to preorder this anyway.
Delighted to see 3D included this time around too!

It might not be limited to 4000 r so copies, but it might only have one pressing of say 10 000 units and once those have gone it won't be reprinted (at least not with whatever cover it has).

And you can always cancel a pre-order, should a better deal or other version becomes available which you prefer.

I went ahead with my pre-order.

Wife and I have tickets to the early showing on Thursday the 7th. It's showing at what they call the "Mega Screen" around here. It's a 50x70 foot screen using a NEC 4K projector in RealD. Should be fun.

Really enjoyed the film, and I think this is a good choice of artwork. I will pre-order, but might cancel as would have to double dip when the phase 2 boxset comes out.
I should add that the 3D was rubbish, but then again 3D always looks better on my TV than it does at the cinema.

This won't sell out, not for many months yet. The pre-order will stay open until the cut off point for manufacture and then final numbers will be confirmed. It's basically a timed open edition.

:hilarious:

You've based this upon what exactly? I feel sorry for newbies as this kind of post can lead to confusion. If you don't like Zavvi that's fine, but posting false information is unfair to other members.

Bit of a harsh post. Do you have any proof otherwise though - Do you know the print run for this ? Nothing has been made public so everything is guesswork at the moment.

I don't think it was harsh. I thought it sounded like BS when I read it too.

And for the record, I will be shocked if this takes "many months" to sell out.

It's early enough that I'm still optimistic there'll be a US release. That said, while this artwork is far from bad, compared to first film it illustrates perfectly why less is often more.
