A little food for thought for US collectors - when was the last time Disney/Marvel released a SteelBook in the US? Given their track record so far, I would be very surprised to see this title in SteelBook on US soil. But anything can happen particularly if next year is the year Disney turns it around for US SteelBooks!

But I digress - pre-ordering this as it is free until the day of release :)

Closest would be the Avengers Viva Metal Case & Iron Man 2 metalpak. So ya not good, but still time to turn it around. Hopefully Disney/Marvel realizes it. :)

Well they just had the opportunity to do that with both the new Thor and Captain America steelbooks but they choose not to. Mind you the 3D was pretty crap for both films so it's no big loss. Hope the 3D is good this time. Pre-ordered :scat:

If they had that opportunity, then it was a wasted one. Both of the new zavvi steels in 3d would have been excellent, as they weren't released in 3d by HMV.
Oh Well.

I don't think it was harsh. I thought it sounded like BS when I read it too.

And for the record, I will be shocked if this takes "many months" to sell out.

This is around the same price as Life of Pi 3D and Prometheus 3D. They sold out, they were not exclusives and had nowhere near the same fan base. Yes it might take a few months, but I'm sure this will sell out. If people don't want to risk it I say better to be safe than sorry.

I am pretty sure there was some type of legal case in the US and disney are not allowed to release titles with the steelbook case insteal used Iron packs and viva metal cases which in my opinion are both poor alternatives to a steelbook.

The reviews for this art stronger than those of iron man 3, personally I'm not a huge fan of either film but thats just me. Also, the price is basically the same but with 3D. Despite the fact iron man is a more popular character, I think this will sell better and I predict it will sell out given that the print run isn't stupid.

The Viva cases were banned here in the US after a court case. Steelbooks and metalpaks are allowed, but outside of Best Buy's "Zero Dark Thirty", they just haven't been very good for the most part. I import most of mine now, unless there is a significant price difference. That said, I pre-ordered this one. Lost out on the first Thor HMV, won't be missing this one.

I highly doubt Disney will want to be involved in the steelbook market especially since it died in January 2013.

Amaray is the way to go. With nice slipcovers now and again. Remember amaray?

Prometheus was a Play.com exclusive wasn't it?
My bad.
Anyway as I said before if people really want the steelbook they should probably pre-order it.

I agree. The Iron Man 3 3D slip looked really nice, better than the steelbook if you ask me.

As I said before I might pass for the phase 2 boxset. Steelbooks are so overused now.

Really? As much as I love steelbook's product I actually prefered the viva metal cases design. They just feel more solid and are built like a freakin' tank.

Agreed, I'm surprised when some mention that the steelbooks are of higher quality. Not nowadays they're not, they got thinner (most not all) lately and prone to be easily dented. And VMB like the JB Hi-fi Tron Legacy or The Incredibles or John Carter (both from FS) are a prime example of what can be done with VMB.

Anyway, back to topic, BLIND BUY for me :oohyeah:
