I think Zavvi will take note of the feedback here but I don't think anything will change. I think it's pretty obvious that Disney will do whatever they want and Zavvi will have to take it or leave it. I'm sure HMV would gladly take over distribution of Disney exclusives if Zavvi didn't want them.

Since this is pretty much a world wide release at this point, I don't see it selling out anytime soon. I will now wait on the sidelines until the price drops (like with Iron Man 3). Would like to see what it really looks like in hand before I make a final decision.

I don't know what happened, but I just wish Disney would reconsider their relationship with Future Shop and Best Buy in North America so that it is easier (and cheaper) to purchase these.

Canceled my pre-order. With most steels now not selling out and lowering in price there's no real point in pre-ordering with zavvi unless you really like the art or the print run is low... the back art is just plain lazy

Im sure it will look tons better in person, but it will never live upto the HMV exclusive thor steelbook.

I got a reply from Disney
Your email doesn’t seem related to UK programming we recommend that you visit Disney Website
Here you will then be able to choose the country in which you live and get through to Guest Services for your area, where they should be able to help you.

That was sod off try someone else
Will try sending a email to the Head of Marketing Department
With the amount of money Disney UK make they most likely don't care
As they did not care about the avengers mix up and even after admitting they made a mistake did noting to fix it
If it was A Disney USA release I would have gotten a better reply as they seam to be better

End of the day they know Disney Classic steelbooks will sell out (With exception Planes was never going to sell out at full price )
Even if we all complain Disney they know the steelbooks will sell
Its a pity we don't have a official Disney UK forum contact to ask questions on this site
If you notice on Facebook you don't have a option to send a private message to them as they don't want to have to reply

This will sell out at some stage but we might see a price drop if the print run was to high but we don't know the print run so to hard to call

I suggest we create a poll of what we like and want to see with Disney Steelbooks
And its put in the Steelbook Feedback section and better its a separate Disney feedback section created just for this purpose
Example Aladdin ticked all the right boxes how a fantastic steelbook looks
I'm sure if the poll was created in a creative way and the results showed what we want they might take notice

What was the avengers mistake they made?

What was the avengers mistake they made?

Long story short...

A spear tip was digitally removed (not included) from a certain scene on the DVD/Blu-ray release. Disney originally claimed that it wasn't and that 'the version on Blu-ray is identical to the version you saw at the cinema, it really is'. When confronted with claims that we all remembered seeing the spear tip (and that the shwarma scene is on the Blu-ray, yet wasn't on the cinema version in the UK) Disney changed their tune and claimed it 'was due to local censorship issues'. Also untrue as the BBFC responded with 'we would have passed Avengers Assemble with a 12 certificate for home viewing'.

At this point, Disney just said 'order the US version if you're unhappy with the UK release'. Nice!

Oh, and the commentary is missing from the UK release too.

What was the avengers mistake they made?

Disney finally admitted its error
Thanks to those of you who have let us know about an issue on the Marvel Avengers Assemble UK Blu-ray and DVD release, which has a less graphic depiction of Agent Coulson's confrontation with Loki.

BBFC had passed the footage uncut but Disney tried to say if was the BBFC
and then Disney UK later admitted they made a mistake and was not the BBFC but there mistake they released on UK/Europe a censored version of there doing and but did noting to fix the release

It was only a very small error in the overall big picture but as we have seen with Disney UK when it comes to extras Disney UK release we often don't get the same as USA releases

I so wish HMV hadn't hit hard times and lost many exclusive rights. They would have basically refused this back in the day. Unfortunately Zavvi don't even have 10% of the clout HMV had so will take and sell anything they are given. In some respects this is a good thing, if Zavvi make trouble Disney will threaten to go elsewhere, unfortunately they have no where to go as Amazon/HMV wouldn't let them charge the amounts they do and would insist on better products. The bad, Zavvi know this and that's why they will basically do nothing which pisses fans off, and results in lots of cancellations. Zavvi will loose out on this mistake as they will end up with a stock pile that they will reduce in price loosing profits on. If Zavvi/Disney had got this right it would have sold out by now making Zavvi/Disney a higher profit and the fans happy.

It's a massive failure and I'm sure Zavvi know it with all the cancellations. Disney couldn't care less, but Zavvi aren't Amazon, this will effect them.

To be fair, HMV had a few poopy steels themselfs, do you not remember the green lantern HMV exclusive with the big ugly blue banner? Would have been a nice steel if it wasnt for that banner.

zavvi do not decide the finish/design on the final product. neither did HMV,it's the studio's you need to contact if you have a problem.

Incorrect on the HMV front, they had enough power before their problems to ask companies to go back and redesign or they wouldn't sell it. Since they were basically the only high street retailer left, companies obeyed them. Not so much on the movie front but they had many custom slips on cd's especially within the Metal genre that were 100% HMV only. Zavvi just take what they are given as they aren't a large enough company to challenge to studios.

Where does the German version factor in this? :movie:
