Do you agree with me? I like to see more top quality RECENT movies on SteelBook. Just saw that Zavvi will release another 5 SteelBooks, ALL catalogue titles... I mean, I don't have a problem with that, but they should release new movies aswel!

Yeah i just posted something similar in the Sixth Sense thread - I do like some of the older titles like Rambo and Beverly Hills Cop, but i would prefer zavvi to focus on newer movies if they can.

there are a ton of newer movies that only got released in germany for example

I don't mind if the steelbooks are catalogue films or not, as long as the artworks good. My main issue is the sheer amount that are being released xD it's really starting to hurt my pocket. If zavvi are going to keep continuously release steelbooks like they have been I feel they might have to lower their prices to that of the Play.com £9.99 standard.

It doesnt matter how many they release just buy the ones you like :D

No. A lot of newer, blockbuster films (the type that will get Steelbooks) are crap, so I would rather classics of the past get Steelbooks. That said, I do think we need more new releases, but I'm certainly not complaining about the back catalogue titles they are releasing. I would prefer it if they were £9.99/£10.99 though.

I suppose it all depends on your preferences. Also, I am sure that many blockbusters will get an SB treatment. Like Karl mentioned, just choose what you like and that will easily let your wallet breath a little. :D

Zavvi is always trying for new releases, and there are some planned. So I would say its not how some may make it out to seem. Its not like they arent trying to secure new releases.

They are, and there is a mixture of both coming so just be happy their is a variety of selection. Used to our selection was crap world-wide .... these days you damn near focus on UK first then rest of the world. For me it makes it much easier to follow along.

I just pick and choose. If I have no interest, I simply don't buy. In comparison to years ago, there is a much larger variety of titles, genres, and timeperiods (glad to be seeing some classics from prior decades as long as the BD itself is not shiite), in terms of what movies are released as Steelbooks. I'd say just choose the ones you're most interested and send a message with your wallet for the rest of them:) There used to be a time years ago when people said catalog titles would sit on shelves...still happens occasionally, as it does with new releases. But imo...choices are always good...

I wouldn't say too many catalogue titles, just too many in general. Steelbook collecting is getting more and more expensive, and I'm not complaining at all about the likes of Zavvi and ES providing us with loads of quality steelbooks, but I wish they'd slow down a little and maybe release things like the Disney titles early next year rather than in September, it gives us all time to catch up then.

This is my first post here and I have to say that, as someone who just got into collecting steelbooks, I'm happy to see so many titles, both catalog & new releases, getting steelbook treatment.

i think they have a great taste of catalogue movie choices. only problem is that i can't afford them all

the only thing is the time period among releases is so close and even if you like all titles you have to pick the ones you dont want to miss and have hopes you can get the rest later on! there are no breaks any more as before when you could get pretty much every single release! i'm sorry for new collectors! it must be really hard to keep up now days!

Very impressive list and yes I am also another movie fan hoping for steelbook release for these titles. I really love to see one for Lincoln, Moneyball and Mud most!:D

Great choices with Shame, The Master, and Moneyball!

I say bring em on...I only purchase films I like anyways so the more they make into steelbooks the more chance there is of one I like being released - though I have bought a few blind buys :)

I don't mind all of these older titles coming out as SteelBooks, but Zavvi are taking the piss a bit with their pricing! At least PLAY had the decency to sell the older films at around a tenner to make up for the amount of titles that were being pushed out all at once!

I also think that Zavvi are cheapening the SteelBook brand by forcing out dozens of catalogue titles in a short period of time (ironically, they charge high prices for them) - SteelBooks were once a premium product for the discerning collector, but now it's as if every classic film is getting the SteelBook treatment, as many people have pointed out!

I know it's not entirely Zavvi's fault, and the studios are also to blame, but Zavvi really need to be setting some limits. Two or three catalogue titles per month is ample. It wouldn't be so bad if they spread them out a bit, but you only have to look at the 3rd of June and 23rd of September to see that they're taking advantage of collectors!

Like I said above, it wasn't so bad when PLAY were selling them at a tenner a pop, but a lot of Zavvi's exclusives are £16-18 each, and the prices are gradually creeping upwards towards £20+! I think a lot of people here will agree that they are releasing too many in too short a time period, and for too much money! I'd like to go back to how things were just over a year ago before PLAY started this trend!
