FYI the suppose "restoration" comparison is a total con

no way did the un-remastered film EVER look like that! and i've had this on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, HD-DVD and 2 x Blurays (this is my third dip)

but as for the transfer itself, i think it looks stunning for a catalogue title!

has a nice film like look to it with natural grain

I still can't believe that. I would expect the most useless of eBay sellers to post out a steelbook like that, not a major UK retailer!

Just received my Steelbook. It`s nice, now I wonder if new blu-ray has really better quality. I thought the German Steelbook Version had good quality for a 1990 Movie.

Mine was waiting for me when I arrived home last night. To my horror not only was there a tear in the jiffy bag but a large FOOTPRINT on the back! Im sure you can imagine how my heart sank. It was only when I opened the package that I was full of joy again, the steelbook was mint! I can only assume the jiffy bag was damaged and trod on before my disk went in.

Didnt HMV say they were looking into changing steelbook packaging to mirror play a month or so ago?

Dont know what their management is like but going from carboard boxes to plastic bags is kinda the opposite direction.

Don't do anything drastic mate, this is not an HMV exclusive so you can get this from Amazon or Play for cheaper than you'd get it in HMV store.

Haven't looked at play but Amazon raised price now from £16.00 tp £17.99 after release.

anybody compared this to the german version yet and if so is it any better/worse?? I do have both versions and will have a quick viewing myself just wanted a to know if there are any particular scenes to look out for!!

Well had no reply to an email sent yesterday , so decided on a call to the dreaded customer service line ! spoke a rather nice chap who couldn't apologise enough , asked if i wanted a replacement yes thats fine i said , oh wait we have no more in stock , but even then the replacement steelbook would still be sent out in a jiffy bag , apprantley they resort to the plastic bags if the jiffy bags run out lol .

Nightmare ! last time i use hmv for pre-orders or any type of order for that fact .

play or amazon will get my custom even if i have to pay more .. simples

I agree, they should respect what they are sending and follow Plays example with the boxes. I received mine in perfect condition though in a Jiffy bag Good luck to everyone else. :movie:

Mine arrived today in a jiffy bag, thankfully unscathed...I was expecting a plastic bag after all the pics on the forums and HMV's facebook page so was quite surprised to see it in a jiffy bag (still not ideal though)

I appreciate this is a temp matter caused by the move of warehouse but I think someone at HMV needs to take a serious look at the problems caused by their decision to use TNT for their deliveries during this move as the cost of replacements for all the damaged stock must be quite a lot, If I were HMV Id be sending a bill to TNT, and its not just the damaged stock, its their damaged reputation, at a time when they cant afford to be losing customers..
