Mate finish ?

Still too busy to take shots of Xmas haul but took some of the Disney / Pixar range came today.

Going to add natural light shots to photos this year as well as the light intensity photos that I usually take which show up embossed work and streaky finishes.

I hope you enjoy them and I'll continue. :)

These steels arent too bad but again a missed opportunity with the gloss. The poor matte streaky finish isnt good enough for these titles.

Zavvi mistook execution for execution. :p

Woody's bug eyes. Don't look at the eyes!

So glad I passed on all 3, being the proud owner of the first two on Iron Pack and a DE TS3.

The later Disney wave titles have potential and I've preordered; but if they are still available around shipping time, I'll cancel and wait for in-hand pics.

Looking at it, the artwork had so much potential just missing a couple of things, such a same.

Happy I had cancelled, saved money for the blufans releases coming up

I'm still awaiting for delivery of the Toy Story 1/2/3 and Fantasia Steelbooks

I never can work out how Post shipped on the same day in the UK by Zavvi using Royal Mail arrives different days apart sometimes its 3 to 8 working days difference to Rep of Ireland

You get your post after 3 working days or 5 working days or 7/8 working days and all shipped same day

When Amazon use An Post it always takes only 2 Days
Zavvi use Royal Mail and your left guessing as to when your parcel will arrive

I got Wreck it Ralph delivered on 20/01/2014 and that was shipped same day (15/01/2014) as the Toy Story 1/2/3 and Fantasia Steelbooks

Strange Postal System

One of the pointless embossings I have seen on a steelbook. Woody's boots. :hilarious:

Edit: Oh wait, are Woody's eyes embossed aswell? Okay, that suddenly turned creepy as hell.

The Army guy's damn parachute is embossed for Pete's sake. :wtf:

The embossing on these seems more appropriate to a toddler's storybook instead of a fairly expensive adult collectable. :hilarious:

They seem to have been designed by someone with no comprehension of perspective :(

Hang on.....

Same here. Items that are sent on the same day to Australia can arrive at different days. Weird. I wish Zavvi would just send them all in one box.

Thought I'd hold out judgment until I had them in hand, but they unfortunately do no more for me in person than they did in all the pictures. The misaligned embossing and scratches don't help either.

Can we elect a new "home of steelbooks" please?

Who the hell had the idea of this completely retarded random embossing? :hilarious:

Srsly, when I first saw Buzz' helmet was embossed, I thought, they may have thought about achieving a 3D effect, and then saw Woody's eyes which reinforced my assumption (I don't like those embossed eyes anyways). But then: His boots are embossed, too.

Classy releases like those from Blufans and Kimchi show that embossing isn't necessary to get a great looking steelbook, while this release shows how embossing can destroy it.

Maybe Zavvi/Disney should reconsider their opinion about embossing nearly every single exclusive release they got, since it appears that they're running out of ideas how to make the embossing fit to artwork.

Zavvi don't give a F**K most people should know this by now, even back before when they had decent packaging it wasn't good enough, they fail on so many levels

Hey man, it's not like you're paying three times the current value of the movie for a fragile collectible ca... oh wait, nevermind.

Like I say, bigtime bummer that a company so unconcerned with doing things right is responsible for so many releases. Sure, it's not as if these movies can't ever be released again, but it's a lot less likely in the short term, and the market is already oversaturated as it is thanks to them.

It's obvious that they'd like to be perceived as the leaders in the SteelBook game, but in reality their customer-unfriendly actions and glut of consistently disappointing products are actually holding the hobby back.
