It's a nice steelbook but I'd wager they increased the print run on the sly, thinking it would sell at IM levels but it hasn't. Probably does hurt the retailer a little to see something they sold for a tenner sell for forty on ebay, and wanted a piece of that pie.

If they didn't, then it's baffling why this hasn't sold out... Nice steelbook, well made, strong fan base. It's even got a glossy spine, you don't see much gloss these days. Very weird, only slight negatives for me are the lack of the bonus disc, and maybe that it's just the amaray art. But it's nice amaray art. So yeah, baffling.

Yepp, its a great steelbook. Love the fact it has awesome inside artwork, and i love the fact they used the original bluray artwork. I had the original amaray so just placed that disc in a cd sleeve and put it in the case.

^^ Agree with a lot here

Nope, guaranteed there were only 4,000 printed. HDN has seen stock numbers, but it does seem like this issue comes up and up again - plenty of disbelief on what is stated being true.

But you are correct that it has not sold well, plenty of copies still left in stock @ play.com.

If it didn't sell well then why were we told it was close to selling out months ago?

I doubt it helped that there are a few other Transformers steelbooks/editions knocking about... I almost didn't pick this one up because I already had both of the German steelbooks and the French 'Autobot' head with all three films. But either way, I believe in what Play/HDN tell us... personally, I have no reason to believe otherwise. Not that I even care how limited steelbooks are anyway. :p

Based on estimates and the stock numbers given to us, projecting out - it appeared as though it was going to sell out.

However, at some point, the "spigot was turned off" and the orders didn't come in at the rate they were originally.

So that's the story, but rather than hearing about "oh why didn't we know this was going to sell out" or "I missed out on a copy because I delayed" and all that stuff, we told folks ahead of time to be safe.

But hey, if people got their copies anyway, and they like the steelbook, I'm not sure what it matters if it sold out or it didn't, unless it's for folks that saw $$$ and bought ten copies to put up on other retail spaces.

:dunno:

This is definatley my favourite transformers steelbook, dark of the moon from amazon.de is a close second.

I tend to agree although not my favourite it certainly is a beauty. Surprised you can still hold of this it's great in hand

Will this be appearing at other stores, I haven't heard much about the paramount play exclusives, this looks a nice steelbook, should I purchase before Play ceases trading or not panic as Amazon or Zavvi may pick it up.:ohno:
