i feel real sorry for real collectors but unfortunately there seem to be too many people now just buying them to make money from steelbooks rather than collecting them you just have to go on ebay and see how many copies people buy just to resell for profit and obviously companies have seen this and are just joining the band wagon and reaping the profits

so.. i expect alot more re-prints in the future

We should be free to debate any relevant point without being called names....

Yes we should, but that never happens. It always ends the same way i.e. mod intervention. Everyone should just agree to disagree on the subject of re-releases, there is nothing that can be said to persuade either side.

Do we have to go over this in every thread? Can't we just have a re-release thread where everyone can voice their opinion, moan, gripe etc and then just keep these threads for the actual Steelbooks? I'm fed up of reading the same crap over and over. I've been guilty of getting involved in discussions like this in the past, but i'm done with that now. There is absolutely no point in arguing against re-releases because you will just get called a scalper and it won't actually change anything.

Others should be allowed to voice their opinions whether you agree with them or not. We cannot cut off certain opinions just because. Passion is great for the forum and all should be free to express their views without the name calling that's been going on. There is enough room for all

Yes that's right, the world revolves around me. Seriously dude, read my post again.

Certain people can and do (no offence to those people, you can't please everyone all of the time). So it's best to avoid topics that are likely to cause any major disagreement because it will only end in your posts getting deleted and a mod warning everyone to take the discussion to PM.

So back on topic..... This steelbook looks sick right? :)

Yes it does. It will slot right into my collection (and probably many others' - at least those who couldn't afford/didn't want to pay for the FS release) and complete the Transformers set :scat:

I agree with Frank on this, this is what forums are all about. We are all different in our own unique way, of course opinions are not going to be agreed upon. As long as we respect each other and remain tactful in our opinions there is no need for MOD intervention.

And also opinions all help the forum because reps for studios all read this stuff and can see our thoughts and balance a majority of our needs.

Seriously..... Back on topic. No more arguments, kinda depressing reading the same negative nonsense in every zavvi thread.

Make love, not warcraft.

It's not all about value my friend. What about the specialness of owning a rare collectible? I am happy to own Sideshow collectible of ROTF Optimus Prime maquette which is probably my grail collectible I have and value, not in terms of value money, but to me it's the best collectible I have ever owned.

Regardless if it is worth pennies or not in the future, if I saw a re-release I be pretty sad because there's the loss of unique specialness that is gone as it's now available everywhere again. Value is not all about money but it certainly helps!

That's kind of selfish. You want the pleasure of owning it, whilst denying others the same pleasure. If you truly appreciate it for the design and craftsmanship, it shouldn't make any difference how many other people own it.

Oh, and that 'specialness' isn't unique, unless you own the only one in existence!

I do not have FS edition so will buy this one to complete set, but I come to the conclusion that I will be buying from zavvi in the future only those steelbooks which I really will want (especially new Disneys). As for me, begins to be too much steelbooks from zavvi, and it seems to me that they go for quantity not quality.

Now I will focus on real collector's editions of steelbooks like next Kimchi limited editions and BluFans exclusives, because their identical duplication in the future will be very low, or rather impossible in identical form (because of extras like full slipcases, artcards, stickers with Asian writing).
Also will try to collect as much as I will can (I can afford) Disney Viva Metal Boxes, because they are unique right now and there will never be a new release in this form of packaging (which I love since I had first copy of VMB in my hands) :)

Bah. F this thread, added zavvi link to favourites so i can pre-order. Someone give me a PM when this bitchfest stops.

Im out.

Except that most don't respect opinions they don't agree with. I earlier posted something along the lines of it was past the point of re-releases getting stupid and that 'collectors would have to accept re-releases or quit collecting' and guess what? It was reported by a number of members and deleted.

If I may make an analogy, it's a bit like the gay marriage argument : it's not because everyone now has the opportunity to buy a Transformers 3 steelbook that it makes yours less valuable.

I think it's pretty great that they put out new editions. The more steelbooks the better. That being said, I'm not a fan of these films — the first one was decent and the last hour of T3 did feature some impressive destruction, and the image/sound of this trilogy is probably stunning on Blu-ray, but I'm going to pass.

Even if it's not steelbook material as much as the Transformers films, this November I'm saving myself for Ron Burgendy.

Can we keep discussion to the steelbook guys. I know these re-releases are hot topics and there are always going to be differences of opinions. Constant arguing and bickering only serves to derail the thread, members don't want to read through pages of arguments to actually find some information on the steelbook. Thanks for your co-operation and understanding.
