Worth noting mate that the releases announced today are not Play exclusives and will be released everywhere, so can't blame them for this.

I am aware of that as the other titles appeared on Amazon first but these last four appeared on Play.com first, that's why I used the link for this one. Anyway I'll add it to the OP to save confusion.

Yeah it was more in response to the post above mine criticising Play, it seems pretty clear these ones today will be part of the Warner wave announced the other day.

I had at one point the German and the CAnadian and at the end I like the GErman better, this has to be really different from the others to even consider to buy it :)

im totally with you on that one my friend , plays steelbooks are getting very dissapointing now , there where some very good poll ideas for future steelbooks some months back here on the forum , i even mentioned the great escape being one myself , maybe if play are going to bring out all these they should do what they did with iron man and limit to so many , like 4.000 copys. the 1st wave they brought where interesting , like man on fire , preditor and taken, but the taken the fun out of it now.
we need classics like the warriors , the great escape , unforgiven , italian job
come on play sort yourselves out
we need to start doing some kind of polls to let play know what kind we looking for.

he means they have be released as steels before.

You need to chill out on your critiscism of Play.com. These aren't play.com exclusives and Play aren't deciding on their own which movies to release when they do get exclusives.

And they aren't re-releases when they haven't been released in the country they're getting released in.

How come no-one complains when a new movie gets a release in more than just on country? Why do they need to do that when you could just get it from whatever country first decides to release it.

This will continue to happen so just get used to it. There's no need for 50% of a thread to consist of arguements about re-releases.

Btw, I just got this from Canada but I'm not complaing about it. These things happen and seeing as steelbooks have taken off this year it's bound to happen many many times in the future.
Switch to Viva's if you want exclusivity but just realize that it will probably happen with them too down the road.

Did you copy and past this from the last thread someone dare mention the words 're-release'?

You say it's selfish for Steelbook collectors to say it's waste, well I say it's selfish and lazy for someone to wish every Steelbook ever released be re-released in the UK or any other country for that matter. The majority of Steelbook collectors import, it's only a select few who don't (typically new collectors). It's so easy to import that there's no excuse not to. It's easy to get a region free player so that's not a problem either.

Personally, I've only been collecting a couple of years but I went back and collected ones I missed out on. Re-releases annoy long term collectors because they take the fun out of it. Where's the fun in collecting if everything is available at the click of a mouse? There's also the fact that collectors spend thousands of £s and $s collecting, buying OOP items, rare items, joining group buys etc. in the hope of having something unique (which for me is one of the main draws. I like the thought that I have something not many others have) only for studios to ruin that for us by chasing new customers.

Rich people can afford rare steelbooks. And it annoys them when the value decreases after a "re-release" comes out. For example iron man future shop.

I welcome them. It stops money grabbing thieves selling them for outrageous prices on eBay.

Are you being serious? That's more selfish than the majority of collectors being annoyed by a re-release of a title that is widely available, cheap and very well designed. Sounds like you're a little bit jealous of other collectors.

Of course I'm jealous of anyone who has a better collection than me, but not bitter.

And I don't complain whenever a steelbook is released again in a different country.

But again, nobody seems to be arguing except yourself. You have to understand that your opinion is an opinion. Now I'd like to move on and continue to discuss steelbooks and give other opinions on other steelbooks.

This is not a teeny bopper fighting forum.

Up for Pre-order now.

17,99 GBP or 24,49€

Too much for a re-release in my opinion. Will pass on this one except the Artwork is absolutely stunning.

And to think i just recently put out for the Candian release. Is there a reason re-releases are running rampant right now? Along with re-boots and remakes of every film known to mankind?

I'll be getting this I think. Not at the price they are flogging it for though. But if it was £11 or less I would get it to upgrade my DC dvd. I love this movie (DC version). Have the theatrical version on HD-DVD (on of my very first HD discs)

Seen all the art for this new wave of WB steels now and they all look pretty good. Way over priced though as all these movies are so very cheap nowadays.
