Just checked website of Royal Mail and see that yet again postal charges from Royal Mail are set to change, this time with effect from 2nd April 2013. If anyone wants a pdf then they can go here and follow the link at the bottom for a downloadable version.

I have used the word change rather than rise like I did last year as they are "simplifying" the weight bands for International Post which will now go up in 250gm increments rather than 100gm. What does this all mean ? Well checking some of the rates, currently to send a single Steelbook with a single disc in a padded Play box (weighing about 240gm) it is £4.98, under the new tariff same Steel will cost £4.50 as it's under 250g. A heavier Steel with 2 discs or more will be in the next band so would cost £7.20, which will be the same for sending 2 Steels (if they're single discers), and cost £7.98 at the moment. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

For those of us in the UK sending internally sadly there is no good news, it's just going to get more expensive which ever way you cut it. :(

Both Signed-For and Airsure is almost the same except that ISF requires signature upon delivery. Also ISF is a tad cheaper than Aisure but I think that's going change from next week.

Well I was told AIRSURE was a bit faster but I don't think it is,more expensive YES :hilarious:.

I don't think AIRSURE can be tracked via deutsche post I think its a courier but I don't know who.

It would help if the buyer responded but either he doesn't speak English or he is very ignorant all I've done is be nice and let him know everything I don't know why I bother.

No more international sales again for me EEK!

Aursure is meant to be the first on the plane and first off again... so paying slightly more for airsure isn't always worth it. Plus I prefer to have proof of signature than care about how fast :D (especially via ebay)

To be brutually honest, Airmail has been the fastest for me. All tracked packages wait in the recipient hub to be scanned and it could take several days or even weeks. Delivery speed is pure lottery.

I agree. Though I stopped offering that service via ebay a couple of months back because of a few items going 'missing'. Always some that spoil it for the rest.

Thanks John.

I've already tried that DHL before it doesn't work... the tracking works with royalmail.com/parcelforce.com I Tried EMS and it put me through to parcel force. So I would like to know which company is delivering this item.

The buyer as made no contact, I hope he is not trying to pull a fast one and not accept the package then go and collect it so it doesn't show delivered,I wonder if that is possible?

The item just shows unsuccessful delivery.:ohno:

Could do with some German members to HELP who have had AIRSURE packages sent to them.

Negatives:

1. Small packet dimension especially Depth / Height should be within 8 cm which is way too low. The play.com box with 2 Steels side by side will be the ideal candidate.

2. Shipping 1 Steelbook has gone up considerably.

3. Compensation for standard delivery reduced from 46 to 20.

Positives:

1. Shipping 4 Steelbooks under 1 Kg has become cheaper.

2. Shipping more than 1 Steelbook overseas has become cheaper. In fact it is cheaper than shipping from USA to UK.

3. Airsure has become 30 pence cheaper than Signed-For.

I found something strange today.

As per the price guide, cost of shipping 1000 grams small parcel to EU should be £7.85 by AirMail + £5 on top by Airsure (£12.85) or £5.30 on top by Signed-For (£13.15)

http://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/RoyalMail_OurPrices_April2013b.pdf

As per the price finder, it is showing £13.15 by Signed-for and £15.42 by Airsure which is higher than the price quoted in the price guide.

The price finder is definitely updated to reflect new price revisions but something is defnitely wrong. Royal Mail is one pathetic company to deal with.

posted 3 items today-was charged £10.20 to send cabin in the woods steelbook to Germany-international signed for-used to be £8.77-medium sized Ring boxset-used to be £2.20-was charged £5-small packet-PJ Harvey cd-letter sized-usually 80-90p-was charged £2.50 because the idiot at the post office overcharged me and was measuring the packet incorrectly-an absolute joke:angry:

will try my hermes or a courier and send it all out in one go-can't afford to pay £18 plus for postage!

As per bloody usual!:(

I sent a single steelbook to France today and using Airsure it was nearly £12.00 :(

Crazy prices, especially as i don't think it would have been any dearer sending 2 or 3 discs.

posted a steelbook to france-£4.25 airmail-lecter boxset cost £2.60 but I skimped on the packaging-Up blu ray-£1.10-was told by the guy at the post office that Royal mail will only cover items up to £20 from here on in that are lost or damaged-so if-for example-you post your £100+ mint copy of Thor overseas and it gets lost-you will only be able to claim £20-will be using hermes on all medium/large parcels as they can cover for loss if you pay £1.20 extra-any old dvd's/cd's can go through the post office but they are still going to cost more...goodbye royal mail-never loved you...

For me the most disappointing thing is not the price rise, but the reduction of the compensation amount for regular post. Previously most Steelbooks I sold would be covered with standard compensation of £46, now only a few will fall below the £20 limit meaning I either have to pay for Special Delivery or take the risk of using a service which wouldn't cover the cost of the lost item :(

The price finder is updated but the amount for Airsure and signed-for is wrong. Same with the post office. The amount is different from the price gude sheet. Tracking is the worst. I shipped a package to France by Signed-for / insured for 200 GBP Tuesday and it is still being prepared for shipping. For the amount I paid it should already be in France. If this kind of price rise continues many will switch to private carriers.

igans- royal mail tracking is useless for airsure. its usually quick but most of the times, you cant even see the signature

I got caught out posting yesterday. Checked Royal Mail website Wednesday evening to get a price for a sale I was making and charged my buyer accordingly. Went to post office yesterday and it cost me around £3 more because it was "just" a medium parcel rather than a small one :(
