Zavvi will 'find' more copies, I'm sure. I got suckered into paying over €22 for Pan's Labyrinth. It was 'sold out' for over a month or so, then reappeared on the outlet site at the higher price. Now it's still available.
Ouch, you definitely paid over the odds there, Pan's Labyrinth is a steelbook that I'd say is worth that either way though - excellent film and beautiful steelbook.

Pan's Labyrinth wasn't an ultra-limited run, which means 4,000 copies were made and it didn't sell out right after launch (I bought it at the beginning of June for £8.99 - down from £19.99 at launch, so clearly they were trying to get rid of old stock) - it took over 6 months to sell out.

This was ultra-limited (2k print run) and sold out practically after launch - if they have any returns that aren't damaged I'm sure they'll end up on ZavviOutlet, other than that it seems unlikely.
They'd already be flogging them for a higher price on ZavviOutlet if they had more I'm sure (just like they're doing with 3:10 to Yuma right now).

I picked Pan's Labyrinth as an example. Yes, it had a different amount of copies, but my point was it 'SOLD OUT' shortly after launch like this one so far (I know, because I had preordered it but cancelled it before launch hoping for a price drop) It then 'disappeared' altogether for about 4-6 weeks where I really regretted cancelling it. But when it appeared (first) on their outlet site and then again on their main site at a higher price than original, I panicked and re-bought it.

It was my decision, nobody made me. But it's frustrating with Zavvi when you never know what the true story with the print run is.

sold out on zavvi can mean a couple of things-

they still have a few hundred left in stock but are reserved for returns/damages and will be made available later

they still have a few hundred left in stock which are lost in their warehouse.

they still have a few hundred left in stock but just havent updated their system

they still have a few hundred left in stock but the stock is being reserved for their ebay outlet

they still have a few hundred left in stock but are sitting on them to re-introduce them to the market at an inflated price

Here we go, another Steelbook gets sold out and I regret not buying it. Why does this happen? :grumpy:

If this helps, I just watched the movie and I thought it was completely pointless.

Yes, I get where the director was trying to go with it, but it was very boring and I was very restless watching it.

Thankfully, I had an amazon love film free trial, so other than the hour and forty minutes I cannot get back, it cost me nothing.

I suggest you rent it and then see what you think.

Bet you enjoyed dem tiddies tho', didn'cha?

No, but in all seriousness - a totally valid opinion, nonetheless.
Just goes to prove the nature of this type of film - i.e. not for everyone - even intelligent folk like yourself.
I have a feeling it'll be on as many people's worst of 2014 list as it's on best of lists.

Someone said it was a marmite movie, which pretty much sums it up. I love the majority of film genres, just this one didn't tick any boxes. Even boobies couldn't save the movie for me! :naughty:

It's saved me £24.99 though, which is always a good thing.

The wait is killing me! :ohno:
It looks beautiful, and no I don't think it is 'too plain'. I think it is a clean and simple look. Thanks to those that have posted pics.
From this thread, it seems the mint vs. dinged up arrivals is about 50/50. It will just be luck of the draw. Fingers crossed all the postal workers are happy. :D

I don't think you can call this film pointless at all IMO. I think a lot of people are missing the whole point of the movie, which is a shame. It's very different from anything else Scarlet has done. If you're expecting her to reprise her Avengers role you're very much mistaken.

The whole subject of the movie is the contrast of what you see on the outside and what's really underneath. Hence the title of the movie.

The whole movie is filled with this....

**Spoiler below** You may not want to read if you haven't seen the film yet.

The scene with the rose-it looks beautiful but it hurts. Her eating the cake-again it looks nice to her but it makes her sick. The guy with the deformed head-he looks scary but is a really nice guy underneath. Compared with the logger at the end, who we first think is a nice guy trying to look out for her but he winds up raping and killing her.

As I said, these themes run throughout the film and it's quite clever. At least I thought so. And as I said before, it left me pondering afterwards.

I can't believe some people are just glad it's got boobs in it. That shouldn't even be a factor. What are we, pre pubescent boys??!!

I do respect your opinion and taste in movies dude, it's just one movie I did not find enjoyable.

I knew from comments in here and overall reviews that there was no middle ground - you either liked it, or you did not. Nothing to hate about it I don't think.

I love deep, thought provoking movies, but this did not do that for me. I did really get what it was trying to put across, but I just didn't enjoy it - but that doesn't mean someone won't love it.

Yes of course. And I respect everyone's opinion too.

To be honest I'm not a fan of art house type films. I'm more of a main stream 'blockbuster' and horror kind of guy. So I was surprised myself that I enjoyed this as much as I did. I come from a place where I have to see a film for myself. I don't go by reviews.

I can see why people would hate this (my own wife didn't like it) but I was just trying to explain a little of what to expect and what I took from the whole thing :)

50/50 is very scary, seeing that it is SOLD OUT...glad I triple covered myself on this!!!

Got my copy in yesterday. Small ding on the front but a couple decent scratches on the back. Not too bothered about the ding but the scratches on the back bug me. 10% of won't cut it considering this steel cost $44-$45 and they shipped it with that cheap foam. Zavvi keeps running out of packing materials, maybe they should run out of steels and give up the game. Give it to a retailer that actually cares about customer satisfaction.

Finally watched the film, I have never seen anything like it. Really creepy and very well shot. Scarlett was very good in This. People should give this film another chance I think it needs a second viewing.

Here are some pics from mine that arrived today. It had 1 very small dent on the back and 1 small scratch noticeable in the zoomed in photo below, but it is Zavvi and I think it is as good as it will get given the packaging. But boy, this thing is a fingerprint magnet, right out of the shrinkwrap and this will scratch easily. This is the perfect steelbook candidate for a steelbook protective cover. I would strongly advise it.
It is a very nice steelbook, my only reservation is the brightness of the image. I really wish it popped more, it looks just a little on the dull side. I think if it was a bit brighter, this would be flawless:
