the steelbook is the classiest this year.

just watched the film and its very good. those who dislike it just dont have good taste.

the ending is brutal

The 'good taste' you speak of is purely subjective.

Through an objective standpoint, there are ways to determine if people have bad taste. Even though I love this film and art-house in particular, this is not a film that defines good or bad taste. However, say someone hated The Godfather, Lawrence of Arabia, Taxi Driver, and Vertigo to name a few. I feel like one could then say that their taste in films is pretty bad. Likewise, if someone liked nearly every action film Hollywood put out but hated the notion of any films with any artistry put into them, then one could say that person has bad taste. The "good or bad taste moniker" can be placed, but this film doesn't really have much weight on it.

i dont think so. taste can be measured.

the films target audience is those with taste- those who can handle a scene with more than a few minutes of silence, those who enjoy interpreting events unfolding in a film rather than having it spelled out to them in the most obnoxious manner. those who can handle a visceral experience and one that is also thought provoking. those are some of the clues that it is a film made with taste, and for the consumption of those with taste.

One thing about this release...was this actually rated 15 in the cinema run? I could have swore it was rated 18 when I saw it. Not that it matters much either way, won't mind a few younger teens getting freaked by it when they go in looking for the smut. :D

I was mulling over whether to order again or not. I have now officially. I trust the reviews on here! Not risking a dinged up arrival with a high grade steel with no chance of getting a replacement when it firmly becomes sold out. My first order is still at least another week from arriving. Caved and ordered a second one. Hoping both arrive mint so I can just resell the second one. Looking forward to add this to my collection. Glad they didn't screw it up.

Only with Zavvi, my first instinct after ordering is, 'I hope this doesn't arrive damaged.'

Quick look on the bbfc website confirms it was a 15 on it's cinema run.
And I am still kicking myself for not pushing myself to go see it during its time on the big screen. It gives me shudders to think what certain scenes would have played like on a massive screen in a pitch black theater.

I didn't end up watching the movie because of the review, but I adore Scarlett, but from the review it seems more people stated they found it too weird, so I passed but I should reconsider as many seem to like it here and also I should not listen to critics as taste is always subjective...so many times I loved a movie that people were bashing.

Yeah, I'd still say give it a chance. All of the negative reviews lowered my expectations quite a bit, so I didn't exactly go into it excited... in the end I came out loving it though! Hope you enjoy it too. :)
