Could not agree with breakthru more i went to check this out at the cinema and honestly what a worthless steaming pile of cow dung it was, truly terrible film with loads of guys nobs in it certainly not what i was expecting. Anyone buying this on a blind buy is going to be gutted when they get round to watching this, cannot believe its sold out at £24.99 i honestly think Zavvi could put a big jobby in a steelbook and folk would still buy it! #Craziness

OR, those people could agree with the great reviews, the 7.4 on IMDB and the 86% on rotten tomatoes. You know, one or the other.

Any news on the finish on this one yet. Given up trying to get an answer from Zavvi myself?

If Zavvi were sick of the complaints over V for Vendetta, they will take an even bigger kicking if this turns out to be cheap matte, at this price.

Surely the mightiest of muffs would enjoy loads of nobs....
Disclaimer: I may use the word in reference to something you don't. :D

Saw this film few weeks ago, was absolutely TERRIBLE! This coming from someone who usually likes art house films.. but this one was just BAH!

Thank God I didn't place an order!

I understand is you don't like the film (it's a blind buy for me, based on Glazer's previous work), but if the bolded is you criteria, you're ruling out a lot of good films... eg Trainspotting, Schindler's List, Boogie Nights, Antichrist, etc.

I certainly hope the BBFC use this on their classification rating.

"Contains strong violence, language and a load of guys nobs in it"

Steelbook is exclusive to zavvi

Which leads me to believe this will be a cheap matte studiocanal steel, because there is no way Zavvi don't know the finish when it's completely exclusive to them. They know the finish on all the others.

They know this won't remain sold out if they tell the truth. £25 for a streaky matte studiocanal release ;)

I'm stunned you're not a fan of arthouse films.

If it's matte, it's going back!

I'm slightly worried by your ability to run off a list of films that feature guys knobs :hilarious:

Honestly do yourself a favour mate and cancel this as it is a steaming pile of turd. Unless of course you WANT to see guys knobs :naughty:

Same! It will be an instant return for full refund!

As soon as you receive it in the post, return it without it being opened as it is absolute jobbies mate.

That would also make it his best haha.

Maybe he has only seen 2 movies at the cinema. Under the Skin and Shawshank Redemption.

Shawshank being the best. Under the Skin being the worst?

That's the only logical explanation.

The logical explanation is the film is absolute garbage and he is spot on. I really do worry about the sanity of anyone who enjoyed this film.
Anyway rant over, I really do feel sorry for anyone who pre-ordered this at £24.99.

The Shining didn't do very well upon release and didn't have great reviews. It wasn't until it was released on home video that it gained a following. The rest is history.......

There is massive hype for this film as evidenced by the replies on this thread. It wasn't bad, but two much better independent films deserves the steel treatment, Locke and Frank. Do yourselves (and me) a favour boys and girls, get over to the feedback thread and vote them up... ;)

I adored Frank - its in my top 3 films of this year so far and would love it to get the steelbook treatment

The imagery for Locke could make for a really nice steel, if done correctly, but I was so, so disappointed with the film and I'd been looking forward to it for ages. Definitely would watch it again though - I watched it at a festival and was the 4th and final film of a very long day so it could be down to fatigue

Under the Skin absolutely blew me away - I think its been a great 12 months for British film

So what's going on with this matte? gloss? I feel with no information this close to release date, it's matte. Really don't think it is worth the money, might just cancel.

This will sell out either way regardless of the finish as its the only steelbook release worldwide, limited to 2000, and has a decent following. I have to believe zavvi knows this as well. So I dont understand the secrecy about the finish. The company roguefourdesign did the artwork for this one along with others for zavvi. I would try asking them as well if you are that hard pressed to know. They may have some inside info and might be easier to get a response.
