Received my copy today, fat dent on the front thanks to a pathetic excuse for packaging, currently sold out, thanks for nothing yet again, Zavvi.

Actually, I take that back. Not nothing. They did burden me with the hassle that I now need to go through just to get myself back to square one. So that's something.

I am so done with these jackasses. At this point, I'm the idiot for giving them my money.

I orderered one and it took forever to be dispatched so cancelled it. Knowing these jokers I bet they were waiting for a damaged one to return before posting it straight to me

I watched this last night and I have to say for an experimental movie it's interesting but I can see people struggling to get into it, the opening half hour is a bit of a drag.
Though I thought it was quite good I am not sure if I will come back to watch it again.
On the other hand the Steelbook itself is rather nice :)

I wanted to share this tip I found that worked for me on my region A locked panosonic blu-ray player to playback region B blu-ray films. I don't know if it will work for everyone, if it is just Panosonic locked players or not, but I thought I would share it anyway for those with region A players, because it worked for me:

This is courtesy of a member named Honuts from bd.com:

Method 1 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

Method 2 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press Stop
- Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button (You may have to press this a few times)
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

Method 3 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press Stop
- Press 1 and the number "1" should start blinking in the upper right corner. Press the "OK" button while 1 is blinking. You may have to try this a few times, as it usually doesn't work the first time. Try pressing OK on the first or second blink and it should work.
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

I used method 3 and it worked on my Panosonic player! I couldn't believe it, so happy I didn't have to get the region A version of this film as well. Hope it helps out someone on here.

Once I got to the menu, I was able to play everything (movie and extras) like normal.

This little steelie looks amazing,
But honestly, It has zero replay value for me. PASS!

Its a well made art house film, I guess, but something I would never watch again. I could see Kimchi or PA putting it on their exclusive line with a 666 print run. I would buy it and re wat h it then. But not really my bag baby

So it only has replay value if another company release the exact same film???? LMAO!!! :p

Thanks for the step-by-step. These types of tips are actually more disc-dependent than player-dependent. Some companies just region lock the title menu, and leave the content itself accessible via the remote, as you've discovered. This certainly will not work with all titles however... another reason I'm glad I went multi-region.

Wonder if this method works whilst trying to play region A discs on a region B player? :dunno:

The Steelbook is nice looking but yes then film itself might not be for everyone its a strange film to watch and might not appeal to some
When I watched it first it was what have I just been watching but its still good for what it is and will depend on personal film tastes

If you want action blockbuster type of film this is not that type of film

I regret cancelling my order but I just couldn't justify paying so much for a SteelBook which I know would arrive banged up.

This was a total blind buy for me. The steel itself is nice, I suppose. I watched the movie last night, and I gotta say, that was the biggest waste of two hours I've spent in awhile!

Can someone who enjoyed this movie PLEASE explain to me what it was that you liked about it? It seems there are a lot of people praising it, but after watching it I just can't comprehend why. Maybe I missed something, but I thought it was awful.

Not looking to start a debate. I honestly would just like to hear someone's opinion who enjoyed the film, just to see what their point of view is. Feel free to PM me if you'd rather do that than answer it in the thread.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

It is definitely a movie that benefits from more than 1 viewing. If you aren't interested to see it again, I would recommend you check out christuckmann's review 'Under the Skin Explained' on youtube. I would post a link, but I don't think it is allowed. It is about 11 minutes and he really sums it up perfectly. I was confused about a few things, but it all makes sense now.

Thanks for the info, buddy! I'll definitely check it out. I was thinking/hoping that another's perspective would help out.

THANKS AGAIN!!!

I already gave my two cents worth earlier in this thread in post #831 Matthew.....

Under the Skin (Blu-ray SteelBook) (Zavvi Exclusive) (Ultra Ltd Print Run) (WEA) [UK]

I received the steelbook from Zavvi last week, and after reading all the reports of all the dents and scratches, I'm quite lucky it arrived Mint. Personally, I think it is absolutely beautiful.... I like the simple, minimalist design of the front and back... very fitting for this film. I also absolutely love the gloss.. and have no problem paying extra $$ for quality like this.

About the film, after watching it I definitely liked it, but was not completely sure as to what I had watched. It is one of those films that stays on your mind for a few days at least, and that is a good thing. Not many films make me think like this. After reading about, and learning more about the film, it became clear to me what I had previously thought... it is a very complex film disguised as a simple one. How fitting since that is the theme of film.... pulling back the skin to reveal what something truly is. I now think it is a masterpiece and will be giving it a second spin soon.... looking forward to that. This is definitely not a film for those that are programmed to only like a movie if it has a clear plot, a lot of action, and a happy ending.... VERY "un-Hollywood-like".
