Before you all start judging, remember that those that take part in FS / Target / HMV group buys require a person to go in and take the majority of stock - meaning locals don't get the chance to buy. Is that fair?

It's a first come first serve business world, the majority of stores won't normally care who buys it as long as its registered on on their tills.

Swings and roundabouts.

The big difference is the Group Buys are almost always sold at cost and are not being marked up at more than double the original asking price. I am okay with a legit group buy eating up most of an inventory because it is helping out actual collectors who might otherwise have to resort to being screwed over by some dick on the ebay. You know...those guys that immediately put all those copies of Kimchi's Thor Dark World Steelbooks up on ebay and seem to only be out to take advantage of the people that enjoy this hobby and are into steelbooks.

I am a bit confused with how this thread has started to go toxic again, what, because some missed out? It frustrated the hell out of me that Zavvi made us wait a week to pre order, but with that, we were told WAY in advance the date and time of this title. Surely if you really want this, you have a safety net in place, to ensure you get a copy?

Order yourself? Set the alarm clock? Go take a big dump at work? Ask a ninja in your state/country to help by ordering? There was a massive window of opportunity there and it took a few hours to sell out.

I subscribed to the thread and opened up endless pointless messages, but hung in there. a lot of members I had never seen before starting popping up with a few days to go. A lot more that had 2-3 posts and signed up on Saturday.

You still had two hours to get it from when it went live! It seems to be ok that some have "spare copies" for sale on the sale/trade thread, ask for "taking the piss prices" and then moan about limited copies per customer and "scalpers"

I missed out on Star Gate and it was all my own fault. I did not subscribe to the thread and had been off the site for a few days for an update. Scalpers? No. Limits per customer? No. My own mistake. Yes.

It's the same with every hobby someone is always out to make a quick buck, its not fair but it's how the world works.

Exactly, and if that quick buck helps towards putting food on somesone's table or to help pay bills and what not, im all for it.

I'm going to just take a break from HDN and collecting steelbooks for awhile. There has just been far too much frustration lately. The whole Blufans debacle and then missing out on a few other steels I was really looking forward to recently is upsetting me more than it should.

There is no need to be upset... I missed on a LOT of steelbooks that I really wanted...Sometimes cause I was not aware of it going live, or because I don't have the money to buy all of them.
But I know that I will mostly always be able to find them somewhere. If I have to pay extra bucks on ebay for a steel that I so badly want, well I'll do it! And I'll make sure next time, like I did for this one, that I do not forget about it and that I'm checking the forum to make sure I'm here when it's live.
Or i'll try to find someone with a spare copy and trade it fairly...
But at the end, there is nothing to be upset about, it is just a hobby..

Agree 100% the amount of money I spent starting up this hobby to get the so called grails!

If there is a good thing about the ones going on eBay, not everyone will charge shocking amounts for a long period, eventually, they will lower the prices. Or you will be in the right place and the right time to buy that sucker!

Worst case scenario, if you REALLY want this title, or another, is accept you may have to pay a bit more if you miss the preorder. This coming from the guy that purchased IM1 play for £65, Thor and Cap HMV for £100 combined, but then found the Incredible Hulk for £12 new! Patience is key.

The point is that none of this should be necessary. I'm not talking as someone who has missed out either. I have pre-ordered all of the 2000/2500 print run titles from Zavvi. I simply find it annoying that genuine collectors are missing out because some individuals are clearing out the stock in the hope of making a quick profit.

Agree totally with PKAVFC above.

Getting tired of the same complaints on EVERY thread now when some people miss out on something. It happened to me for YEARS. But since I've joined this forum I've increased my luck by about 70%!!

Surely you've been here long enough to know that Ninjas always have something to complain about? ;)

Mate, i know it should not, but I think it has gone on long enough that it won't change. It is annoying, we now have the thrill of the chase for pre orders now, not yeh actual grails!

Overall, I am with the points you raised, but for this title, where advance was given, people not getting a copy and moaning about it was pointless.

Steelbook is GOURGOUS no denying it.

Film transference inside no better than DVD.

I WANT THE FULL PACKAGE !.

The Film when I watch it to match the box it comes in NOT sit and look at the box like a bunch of flowers doing nothing just looking nice doing nowt else.

I whould have been gutted if I'd had missed it and it had been the dogs danglies on both counts .

I hope some become avalable for those ninjas who want it fingers and toes crossed for you all. Me I can rest easy with my plastic case no matter what the disk will be the same quality.

Got my copies, i was there ordering in the first 5 mins of release. 1 copy for me a spares to trade for HMV releases as i dont have HMV near me. Its always handy to grab extras for trading against steels you miss out on, how else would i get HMV steels or imported steels if zavvi limited me to just 1 copy of there exclusives? Shame i could only order 5 ;(

It's always a good idea to try and make friends who live nearby that are also into this hobby, then they can order you a copy of a steelbook if you're not able to at that time. It's something to consider for future purchases.

Sold out already? Meh, Canada version looks better anyway.

I kinda hope they wouldn't limit these steelbooks, that way anyone could get a copy and more people would be happy. Limiting steelbooks doesn't make them anymore special anyway, only possibly rising their prices in the future if they happen to go out of sale. I just think it's ridiculous how some of these go OOS not long after they are released for sale.

But that just my opinion.
