So this is the new packaging for SteelBooks?!?!? Obviously a corporate decision made by faceless suits looking at pricings and wondering how to squeeze a few pence more profit.

In a weird way this could be good news for HMV, if they can keep the prices down then they may find more people coming in for non-exclusive SteelBooks and buying other things. Although bad news for people who don't have a HMV near them.

AmazonUK has done the same as Zavvi to me recently. Seems to me they just do not care and like wasting our time and theirs with returns, replacements and refunds. Downright foolish and bunch of packaging misers.

It's not a hobby anymore if you don't enjoy it, it's becoming a farce and they do not deserve my money anymore. If they don't provide packaging that protects goods sufficiently, quite simply it's a waste of energy and time.

I think your right about HMV, I'm fortunate they are still around in my area, least I can see what I am buying, the online retailers are getting too big for their boots.

I am not buying anything else off them until I see how the next few weeks go. If cardboard mailers are the way forward, 10% does not mean anything to me! not even 30% off would tempt me.

One thing I have learnt over the years is to stick to my guns. I would be a hypocrite to moan about zavvi these last few days, then make another order because I got 10% off.

Nothing will change/ has changed because of this. I am not saying boycott Zavvi, but if you actually care about your hobby and believe in what you say, then maybe wait as to how they deal with a serious issue such as this, not let them brush it under the carpet.

It's great we get official word on new releases today, but how about an official word of the debacle the majority have had to deal with when buying V for Vendetta?

Hmmm. Mailer with foam is new packaging.

Im sorry what.

Welcome to the home of Steelbookz
should be changed to
Welcome to the home of Idiotz

Please DB, Wreck or someone else, please o please calm us down, im so afraid of getting damaged disney steels from now on, not so easy to return when your not in the UK.

Sorry but this thread is just getting repeated with the same old stuff. I think we definately need some clarification on the packaging that they are going to use from now on.

If they are gonna just use the mailers then to me, that is a smack in the face and they are saying thanks for your money, heres your steel which we dont give a crap how you recieve it.

This is a serious issue that we need an answer for. If they are carrying on using the mailers then i think that many people will be cancelling everything.

I have a feeling that the Mods know the answer but they dont want to say as its bad news.

100% agree! 10% discount is a slap in the face! Won't be using them again till they confirm secure box packaging.

I know nothing personally

Out of the three titles I had on pre-order, I just cancelled two of them myself because of all this malarkey today

If I'm gonna drop cash on steelbook, I'd be better off with Amazon or asking a Ninja to source one for me. Much more reliable and trustworthy

How mine turned up, thanks to the thin card mailer. Sad way for a ltd edition to end up, and an epic cheap out by Zavvi on the packaging - god knows how any steels are supposed to make it unscathed to overseas destinations in those flimsy things.

I tweeted them earlier today about the packaging and this is the response i got:

"Hello, thankyou for your feedback, at the moment this is just a trial. I have passed your feedback onto the relevant team"

Folks, posts moved to the retailer thread here https://www.hidefninja.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1063691. A friendly reminder not to attack each other in this community.

We have received no new info about their packaging but as a consumer you are obviously free to contact them for refunds if your item is damaged. Please continue general discussion regarding all business processes in the retailer specific threads. Thanks.

Wow. I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess. I live in the US and mine turned up in perfect condition even with the crappy cardboard envelope packaging. But the sight of that package does not fill me with confidence that I'll receive future shipments in the same condition.

Personal opinion

You don't send out 2500 limited edition items in 'trial' packaging

You choose selected titles (cheap old titles) and inform the recipient that they have been selected for the trail so they can feedback

Couldn't agree more. Its pathetic they shipped out a rare soldout title in trial crappy packaging.

I can't even believe they tried it to begin with. IDIOTS!!!

Whoever decided that "The Home of Steelbooks" are going to use this ****** packaging should get fired ASAP. No excuse for this at all.
