just had email form zavvi to apologise for my badly damaged v for vendetta steelbook and out of good will they will offer me a partial refund of 20%!! How does **** off sound! it was sent out in the shity brown envelopes and arrived like my dog had chewewd it... give me a new copy or full refund,, why have zavvi gone so **** with steelbooks?

sounds like they cant replace damaged items and are too greedy to give a full refund. this cock up must have cost them a fortune.

and its not like they learnt either, i received my wickerman steelbook in a cardboard envelope. a paper thin piece of foam was stuffed inside- as if that would protect it.

i think they only put the foam inside to protect themselves, so if it did come damaged they could claim its not their fault because they put foam in it.

they really need to go back to those white boxes, these cardboard envelopes just arent fit for purpose, its like playing russian roulette with the steels!

Oh dude gutted for you!

I ordered 2, 1 came in a mailer that looked like someone had played football with it, the steel is ok, microscopic paint chip on one corner and 2 small dents on the back that can only really be seen in the right light, so I will make do with it as overall it looks good just not perfect. The 2nd one came in a mint mailer and looking at it, it looks mint. No idea what lurks under the packaging though, and since I promised first dibs to a member here that missed out before it was sold out I'm not opening it till they confirm yes/no on wanting it.

It really was a downer, after really looking forward to this release.

Thankfully 47 Ronin arrived today and brightened my week as it's seriously gorgeous and OCD perfect. "Finger print nightmare though" Jack Ryan/47 Ronin have kept me smiling!

Finally we get a decent steel. Zavvi mucks up and sends it in an envelope with no padding. By the grace of God it arrives uncathed. And, it has all kinds of factory imperfections! It's just a damn shame!

I heard 47 Ronin the actual film was shite. Have you seen it yet? I'm really liking the Steelbook, though. I might have to check the movie out, and see if I like it enough to get the steel...I might have to check out and pick up Jack Ryan too if its good. Nice looking steelie!

47 Ronin has it's fans, It's not brilliant but it is an enjoyable watch. Jack Ryan I really enjoyed, it's just a straight action movie and is a decent intro to what I think will be a reasonable franchise now they have got the obligatory origin story out the way

I've already messaged Zavvi (with pics), asking a replacement copy, but I expect they will send me the usual generous offer of 15% discount. I will have to decline. Ask again. decline second offer. Ask again. Be told its OOS. Then finally end up with a full refund/credit.

Im gunna go rent 47 Ronin and Shadow Recruit within the next couple of days and see how I like them. It's the low percentages on Rotten Tomato's that have kept me from seeing these. Ill rent from redbox for $1.

It sucks that THEY always seem to give the So-So movies a BadAss steel treatment & they give the best movies the Shite Treatment

Complained with a picture and offered 15%
I said I'd prefer a replacement.
Then they offered 20%.

I've asked for 50% refund to keep it or for them to let me know their return address.

Opened mine and the box was a state luckily there was no damage but there some faint scratch marks on the front (still deciding whether to keep it or not yet though )

when i saw the package, i'm really worried about the steelbook inside...

when i finish checking all three steelbooks, i can't believe they didn't get any obvious damaged from the delivery process...

I'll let my friend come by to open the steelbook and check the back side under the slip tomorrow, hope they're all as well as the front.

damn each time when i see pics of those a1 mailers i'm getting scared of a possible delivery next week. it's a bit like russian roulette from zavvi, not only do they risk getting lots of damaged steels back, but also they might lose many loyal customers and pre-orders.

Well mine somehow made it safely across the pond without damage, but I think if all steels are shipped in this now, that will prove to be the exception and not the rule.

I know I've gotten one or two steels delivered in similar envelopes from Amazon UK, but I don't remember them seeming even as flimsy as this one did.

And I placed an order for 5 more steels during the flash sale today

This steelbook is a beauty, very well embossed and a nice gloss finish. Unfortunately there is some stretching on the corners of the steel but this has become the norm recently for glossed steels. The steel itself is definitely 5 stars

As for Zavvi, well they get 1 star but only cos I can't them a 0! They decided this would be a great time to trial new, shoddy packaging! So rather than a sturdy box and a protective foam layer, some idiot thought it would be a good idea to just use a flimsy cardboard mailer!

The good news is that because so many of the ultra limited 2,500 print run were damaged in transit, if you did manage to get a good copy it will double in value if you're a scalper.

That is you being very restrained I am sure. I have so many choice things I could say about their shocking packaging and customer service of the matter.
