I think i might scalp some extra copies to trade abroad to other HDN members, you could call just about anyone on HDN with a trade list a scalper if there asking above retail for a new release steel or trying to trade it above retail. Its not just people selling on ebay that are scalping these. I would guess more than half of the people on HDN could be called scalpers. HMV steels seem to do better than zavvi steels anyway, ;) shame my nearest shut dowwn could of made some money like so many members on HDN have done, i dont get HMV steels at cost so im gonna scalp me some zavvi steels to trade for HMV steels, :D :naughty: im just on the wind up but its kinda true really. :p

Personally I don't really see buying with intent to trade as scalping. If you trade say a £15.99 steelbook from zavvi with a £15.99 steel from hmv it doesn't get much fairer, regardless of what each steel is worth

That is not the average trader's intention is it though? The idea is to get a spare copy of something that will become valuable and trade it for something you can't afford/don't want to pay for. When this sells out, I don't imagine traders will be trying to swap it for other £14.99 titles. More likely they'll be trying to nab a copy of Aladdin, Iron Man, The Raid etc.

I got two copies of Beetlejuice, the second one with the intent of hopefully trading for Mars Attacks! I imagine most trades are as you state though.

Agree 100% trading is a fun and rewarding part of any hobby such as this.

Pure and simple financial greed is a different matter, especially when it's not even a collector who purchases them.

It's something that I know won't change and it can be a good money maker, but it's not my way of doing things, but each to their own. I am happy with just one copy, as I open my steels anyway.

Very nice to see finishing information upfront for a change on a pre order... why cant they all be like this?

...anyway, I wlda preferd the front art being on white rather than orange, but overall very nice. Looking forward to this

I mostly agree with you - Scalping/Stockpiling are 2 sides of the same coin.
It is quite disturbing that people buy multiple copies of something and moan about ebay prices/unavailability of other steelbooks.
Seems as if "profit" is okay if you are a collector, but not okay if you are a profiteer, who doesn't collect !

^^ most of the time its jus sour grapes - somebody got caught napping so they gotta come on here and ***** ***** ***** about "scalping" ect

..Then in the morning they brush their teeth, wash and go to work for some capitalist multinational, helping their organization to make millions in profit while ppl starve in Africa.

....its all jus self-serving late-to-the-party bullshit really imo :movie:

And I ordered my copy. And I do a lot of work for charity. Sweeping statement, that.

I forgive you though

Please. I've seen this argument loads since i have been here. People can do whatever they want with their money and it should not concern you period

I for one, would never argue with anyone about something so minor and I can see Saber tooth's point.

I have learnt that over the years, just because you cannot agree with someone, it does not mean one person is right and the other person is wrong.

Scalpers, or whatever people will call them, can do as they please, I just find it amusing, more than offensive. If people did not pay crazy prices in eBay, then there would not be the market to "scalp"

True, people can do as they wish with their cash, as they always will do anyway.

It's all about opinions and how you put your point across. Too often it can turn into a very heated debate on here, which is not really needed.

1.
a person who resells Steelbooks at a large or quick profit.

I agree. Lots of Hypocrites on this Topic. I picked up an extra copy of Thor 2 BB to sell or trade. It's worth more to me than the $22.99 I paid for it. I guess that makes me a scalper! I've spent thousands of dollars on Steelbooks, lots of crazy prices. Is it wrong of me to try an get a little return on a hobby that's eats up so much of my hard earned cash? Don't hate the player, hate the game!

And the Ninjas to hook up steels at cost for group buys and such: great work! The more power to you.
