I guess this isnt the place to ask how much a damaged steel is worth, i didnt realise there is no average price for steels like this. I guess if its only worth $75 theres not much point putting an offer in as they aint gonna accept that. You guys are so helpful

That was only one persons opinion.
Again, it's back to what YOU think YOU want to pay for it. Only you can make that decision. If you really want it and you think $240 is a decent price, then go for it

You could say the same thing about EVERY steelbook, pay what you think its worth or what you want to pay, its not that your answer isnt what i want to hear its that the answers are not giving me any idea at all if the price is way to much or not, i didnt ask for any personal opinions on damaged steels and if you would buy it or not. I just wanted to know what a fair price for this steel might be, if you dont know thats cool maybe someone does. I thought thats what this thread was for. I could answer everyone on this thread and say its worth what ever your willing to pay. It just doesnt help much, if you posted oh no thats a bit to much for that or it seems about right then i can work with that. I do want one and i dont know if $240 is a decent price thats why im asking.
I personally wouldn't pay $240 for it. I also cannot stand paint chips. I might pay the $75 that was mentioned, but I think that $240 is a little steep for ANY damaged steel. If it was just a tear in the plastic wrap, that wouldn't be such a big deal, but damage to the actual steel? IMO, not worth $240. BUT at the same time, like these guys are saying, it ultimately is up to you and what you're willing to do. If you think the $240 is worth it, GO FOR IT! There's been times I've been willing to pay over value for steels because of my want for them. In my mind, value is just what someone will pay for a steel anyways, and that part my friend, is up to you...No one can tell you what you're willing to pay for it. It sucks, but unfortunately there is no way to really put a set number on value for a damaged steel. Especially one that is so high in value when mint. This is one of the unfortunate cases where the decision is solely yours and there's no concrete info to back up that decision.
Thanks, im in no hurry to get one although i would like one very much, and i havent seen one on auction as ive not really looked, if i had seen one on auction it would of given me an idea, as far as i know it might of been worth £50 or £300 i REALLY dont have any clue at all. Thanks to all of you for your opinions, obviously this is one of them steels that doest have a average price its just down to how much you want it and what your willing to pay. I just thought someone might have one that they got recently or know if it has a standard value overall. I guess somewhere around £100 would be a reasonable amount to be asked to pay from what you all have said.

There actually is one for auction on eBay right now. Starting price was $100 USD (there is a reserve though). Last time I checked, only 1 bid. I would post the link, but I'm on the mobile app and they won't let you do that on here. Happy Hunting, Magpie!!!

I wouldnt put any of them on ebay auction 99p start right now, ive seen most on the list go for retail or under on ebay. I would say if you can get your money back on most of them your doing well, but thats the same for 95% of steelbooks these days, someone else may have other thought.

Well he sold it on the buy it now price, im glad i didnt get it now thanks to you guys. I will save a bit or maybe one of my steels will jump a lot in value and i can trade for one. Maybe Santa has one in stock
It is generally listed online for around £50, but I've rarely seen one sell for that. So in principle, that's probably the very top end, I'd say.
Hey James on average here is what I have seen these going for between hidefninja, AVforums, ebay, Amazon and a few others sources..
FS Harry Potters 7.1= $125 open/mint, $150 new
FS Harry Potter 7.2= $100 open/mint, $110 new
FS John Carter= $60-$75 open/mint, $90-$100 new
Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Japan as a set normally= $175 open/mint, $225 if new

you can get a sealed one on ebay for £45 buy it now so i would guess £40 at the most on HDN as you dont pay fees on here. An open one will be a bit less.

They're a bit up and down as I've seen the whole sealed set go for $200 and I've seen just the first one go for $250.. lol, but as a collector who has bought and sold a few copies of each average seems to be:
Curse of the Black Pearl (sealed) $150-$175
Deadman's Chest (sealed) $100-$125
At World's End (sealed) $125-$150
