Well...with all the dissing of paramount going with metal packs, I have to say these Warner steels look cheap as hell next to the metals. Very disappointed in the quality of these steelbooks.

I wouldn't go quite that far. Watchmen, Batman Begins (minus the questionable front cover), and The Dark Knight are as good as other steelbooks that cost far more than what Amazon is charging for those.

Has anyone had amazon orders shipped release date was 7th of may and still not shipped or even say shipping soon a bit strange as all the titles are listed saying usually ships in 11 to 13 days
Release date 7th of may then come release day says 11 to 13 days ???

These were gone by the time I got there (Walmart) after work. There were still a bunch of the Universal metal thingy's. I picked up the Transformers (both) and Deep Impact, but was not able to find the 3 Steelbooks I wanted (Batman, Batman Returns and Watchmen) so I did a site to store order for the local fedex office. Says I should be able to pick them up by Monday.

I think its limited stock or no stock in most Walmarts. Two WM I went to had very little but fortunately my local had a good amount. With the price being so attractive, I see a lot of non-collectors grabbing these. Also its a pain to find a copy w/o an imperfection. So get em now if you want it mint/near mint for a great price!

Same here, still says not shipped yet, and I preordered day one.

agreed. I think out here a lot of them weren't shipped to the walmarts yet and no eta. Also a lot of the steels being put in those slot things dont help either. Found a lot dented, ripped shrink or slashed spines. Got to look carefully at these babies before purchase

Stopped by and ended up with 4 movies (Heat, Deep Impact, True Grit and Journey to the Center of the Earth) I went with titles I didn't already own so they wouldn't be double dips.

But man this is a killer why do they have to release 50 movies all at once it just becomes a deluge and it isn't good for the hobby. Oh well might go back for one more tomorrow and maybe a few on Friday they didn't seem to be selling, but man I am poor after doing an ironman last weekend and spending a fortune on a new bike and race gear.

---------- Post added at 10:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 PM ----------

Also where is the thread for the US comic book wave, I was trying to make a list of what I didn't own and all I could find was the Canadian one.

I also wish these came to best buy because of the trade and save right now and a lot of these movies I own on Dvd I could trade in my dvds for them.

Walmart is everything but gentle even with fragile items in terms of these limited editions. Many stores treat them like any other movie-the displays need to be updated and perhaps a bit of training of Staff, to change this over time, I think. In a similar vain Best Buy also manhandles them at counters..but has gotten slightly better with their special displays that house Steelbooks during promotions, like 'Dad's Day' last year. Target has the dreaded spider package. So I wonder if most damages if any occurred during transport and storage at the store level...we all have seen some of these boxes getting sliced open and movies tossed around. Some stores are better than others-some managers will help you get more copies (I have also shopped for group buys to help members). Overall, I hope the storing and displaying is improved to cut down on customer aggravation. Fingers crossed.

My Deep Impact has a glue smear running down the middle of the back. My Saving Private Ryan has a matte finish band running down the front.. You can see the band if you look just right at an angle.

Picked up Gladiator, Heat, and Braveheart, and The Big Lebowski as well.

I beg to differ, your just thinking post bestbuy wb wave. Sherlock Holms Game of Shadows, Underworld, Ghost Rider, All the Disney Metal Cases, ZDT, Django, Total Recall, Latest Resident Evil, Bourne Trilogy, and thats just off the top of my head. All of those had interior art. Now if your talking matte vs glossy. I think thats a whole lot of "meh". So considering the US has just got into the game now that there is a G2 Factory. We're doing a bang up job as far as im concerned. Exclusives, you only list ZDT, but we have had our share with these bestbuy waves that are exclusive art Lol. IE; Hangover Part I.

Canada on the other hand, has slipped.

I fail to see how you can say Canada has slipped in comparison to the US... of the steelbooks you listed above: Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows, Underworld, Ghost Rider, All the Disney Metal Cases, Total Recall, Latest Resident Evil, Bourne Trilogy, as well as Les Miserables, Dark Knight Rises and Men In Black 3 were all also available in Canada.

For Django & Amazing Spiderman, both countries got them but Canada with WEA (worldwide exclusive art) and USA with common art for Django, and the opposite for Amazing Spiderman.

Recent USA new release Exclusives (not in Canada): Zero Dark Thirty

Recent Canada new release exclusives (not in USA): Looper, Argo, Expendables 2, Hobbit

I may have missed a steel or 2 that is relevant to these countries, but like I said in the opening of this post, I fail to see how Canada has slipped compared to US. The 2 countries are very much tied together in most releases

Anyways, more on topic, it`s good that at least a few of this wave got some new art and a couple that didn't have steelbook releases before

Is the only way to import a 'Scarface' to use amazon?
If so does anybody know how much shipping would be
Anybody???
Cheers for any help

Is anyone actually finding alot of mint copies out there? I found that the majority of them have multiple centimeter scratches on the bottom. Batman begins at my store all had a centimeter scratch on the back near the top left corner in the exact same spot. I don't let the cashiers handle them expecially after going through the trouble and inspecting them all. They will swipe it to ring it up and then swipe it again to deactivate the sensor just in case even though these releases do not have a sensor in them then they just drop it into a bag. So I tell them to just use the handheld scanner and then i place them in the bag myself.

Actually I went in early this morning and they hadnt put them out yet, so I had to ask for them from the back. I was worried because I didnt get to hand-pick them. I got Watchmen, Gladiator and Book of Eli.. all flawless. Lucky i suppose

Yes that is perfect strategy serjitank - always ask if you don't see the steelbooks out on display. And use your smartphone primed to the Walmart.com site preferably to one of the steelbooks you are looking for.

And if possible, use the self-checkout lanes to keep your steelbooks off the least number of hands as possible.

Well done folks - US retailers learn as much from their consumers as they do from their own employees. Remember, the folks stocking these items don't necessary work for the retailer so the cashier/CS Rep helping you might not know what a steelbook is or how to handle them. Good luck and be careful out there :)

My Walmart is putting these in the theft preventive cases, which is protecting them from the metal displays they are putting them in...the ones I picked up were fine with no damage, but there were a few that had loose discs
