A new wave of Steelbooks coming to the USA, due for release on May 7th 2013-appearing at multiple retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Barnes and Noble, in-store at Costco, etc.

Small update:

actually about 3-4 titles will have inside art.

Thanks i thought the Best Buy original did have inside art the same as the German and Canadian steel? I bought a Best Buy version off Amazon a few weeks back but still waiting for it so dont expect it to turn up in any sort of decent condition so may have to get the new print - how do Amazon.com send steelbooks?

It's hit or miss with Amazon shipping. They have whole stories about it on the Consumerist (under the tag: Stupid Shipping Gang http://consumerist.com/tag/stupid-shipping-gang/ ). They are either super duper over cautious or under package and damage merchandise.

On the positive side of things my walmart stocked up on these. I was able to get Watchmen today so I'll have an extra copy. Looks like my Summer Steelbook Swap recipient in the Ninja forum is getting something a little extra than what I already planned on sending.

Disappointed with the lack of inside art on these but I still ended up ordering a few of them because the price was okay, even after shipping is added on, I really like the film, and I either didn't own the Steelbook already (Face Off, True Grit) or the cover is different from those Steelbooks I already have (Braveheart, Gladiator).

Been to numerous Wal-marts in my area and each one was out of the Dark Knight and Batman Begins steels in this wave. When talking to the workers they all seemed clueless if they were even gonna get these two in.

I looked on the rack they have out and they do not even have tags for those releases. Looks like they may only be getting some of these in store?

Umm... Why no Transformers 2? Why bother releasing part 1 & 3 (which I already have) but not 2 (which I'm still missing)?? Is there a good reason for that? If it's because the movie isn't popular then why do I see the less popular movies getting released left and right?

Those are metalpaks and have their own thread inside other metal packaging those aren't actual steelbooks, there is about ten metal paks to go along with this wave of WB titles and then the wave of comic book titles that all flooded stores last Tuesday.

And for some reason I was thinking Transformers 1 and 2 but this is Transformers 1 and 3, odd that they skipped 2. Funny thing is I don't own transformers 3 which might not be a bad buy even though I really didn't like the movie. Really liked the first one and only bought the second one because it was in steelbook and I got it to go with my first one even though I didn't really care for it. Mine first 2 are G1's though so wouldn't match this G2 third film.

I thought I had bought all the films from these three releases that weren't films I had already owned but looks like I missed one, now I need to consider if I want to spend another $13 today so I at least own every film I didn't own before. I bought 2 more this morning Doom (the last film I thought I didn't already own) and Watchmen because it really is the nicest of this entire wave (even though I own a copy of it on DVD already). Thought about Serenity from the Comic book line or the Town. So many so little time this is 10 that I have bought in the last week.

No inside artwork. But it is the best Green Lantern art released to date. Front and back imo.

I don't care how good the artwork is on the Green Lantern no way are they getting me to triple dip on a very mediocre movie (have the G1 and G2 already US versions), I mean that movie has been steelbooked to death.

Heck I don't think they could get me to triple dip on Batman Begins and Dark Knight (also own the G1 and G2 US versions) and those are awesome movies.

id say all the the steels have no inside work except watchmen and all the walmart metal packs ...I got 9 from the whole list so far with 6 pre orderd at lower cost on amazon
