This can be impossible to predict but with small print runs and many major Steelbook giants like Play & HMV going down maybe you're holding the next Holy Grail right now. So which one of the recent Steelbooks do you predict being the next Holy Grail's?

when "You Guy's" say Roger Rabbit is "apparently" gonna be the next GRAIL ?

How are you categorising these Steel books ??

Are you trying to imply that you include such Steelz as JR , MR, TDK-fnac , ect, ect ??

Or , maybe its gonna be a a 50 Quid Steel book like Iron Man -Play.com version ??

So which is It ?

As you have me Beat here ?

as I dont know weather to put the Rabbit next to my TDK or next to my Iron man, or just open it , as its a nice looking Steel book & not sure ?? what ??

TC I think it's more people mentioning it in here hoping its gona be a grail, it's limited yes but I think it will be like an ironman £50 one day maybe next week but that's it

My opinion hasn't changed since my last post in this thread:

I don't think there will be another grail. Too many people buying and keeping sealed copies to sell down the line. Not like when the grails were released when people didn't realise the potential value.

I completely agree. There will be many steels that will command a high price but the days of 'grails' are gone (unless they start doing lower print runs and/or maybe numbering releases).

Wait, so you organize your steels based on value?

And I agree with snooloui. Every collecting hobby gets saturated at some point during the peak of its existence. It is always the old stuff, the first ever made, that ends up being the grails.

Even something as limited as say, a blufans release, will never be a true grail since we are all here ready to snag a copy, maybe even two if someone is lucky. To get a new grail at this stage of steelbook collecting, it would have to be something like a misprint or else a steel that was made in quantities of around 400 or less. And that number is pushing it.

Thor is doing absolutely amazing in bids on ebay. Just regular, readily available versions are constantly exceeding the $100 mark. That HMV version is around $150. If I were to pick a next "grail" I'd pick one of the rarer Thor variants. Thats why I got FNAC Thor in the first place. I think its much rarer than any of the Asian versions, just by see how many members post their copies. So theres my pic. FNAC Thor.

Exactly. Expensive does not equal grail. A grail is a something that every collector desires to own in my opinion, yet another version of The Hobbit but with a funky slip with foreign writing on doesn't fit the criteria.

The 2009 FutureShop Star Trek continually goes for over $200 on eBay.

I havent seen this go for that in almost a yr. I could be wrong but the impending Zavvi release will definately affect the value of the FS and play versions for a while. Too many collectors will settle for the cheaper new release leaving hardcore collectors to duke it out. Drop in demand will result in drop in price.

Nothing. These overrated steels will eventually come back down to earth. They are in space currently. Look at the recent wave announced in the US & Canada. Investors are panicking and offloading their hoards. Look at how many The Town steelbooks recently posted on eBay. I collect for my personal enjoyment and not hoping a item will become a cash cow.

No chance, to have "holy grail" status you can't have the same artwork as almost 10 other countries release.

I don't know about that. I use to think that way, until bidding on ebay proved me wrong. Have you ever heard of Captain America TW or TDK FNAC? There are many different versions of these steels, yet these goes for grail like prices. Keep an out out on ebay auctions my friend, it will make a believer out of you. The truth is, any one individual can only speculate, and offer their opinion. The market will ultimately decides which one is grail material.
