a lot of members in many many many previous GB by Karel have missed them. the rules 2 copies per members applied for those Gb also.
So to amend a Gb to reduce 1 copy per member will not help Karel obtain more copies from film arena, yes a few bunch of members have secured 2 copies and like every other GB it was in the rules. Now if you open this door and start affecting every of Karel's GB in the future when they become full and give him much work to deal with all of this at one point it will be too much for Karel to handle, this man has not breath all weekend and today also.
and since you bring this up, Wreck who has done the group buy for GOTG and allowed 2 copies per member and Gb got filled up and people missed out. So if you want to go there, to make it fair, we should also bring this up to Wreck(owner of HDN) so he can also change his 2 copies per member in his GB rules for GOTG to modify it also to 1 copy per member to make it fair as you say because GOTG is even more in demand than this title...

how many copies are allocated to the group buy?!?! i cant imagine it being more than about 50 with so many people with member numbers who will want to buy a copy as well

Next time, it would be nice to announce the GB early enough to give a chance to everyone. 
I fully understand the concept :" sometimes you loose, sometimes you win". It is often like that when you are collecting. The truth is, I personally hate loosing without fighting

I think it was about 200 or so, which is quite a lot considering the total print run is only 501. But still, since it's such a low run to begin with, I think it should've been limited to one per member. And I'm not saying this just because I missed out
But this is the nature of our hobby. If we all managed to get everything we ever wanted, we'd have to do a Guillermo del Toro and buy another house just to put it all in.
The group buy should definitely have been limited to one copy per person. I think multiple copies are a luxury, one that shouldn't be afforded if others are missing out.
Looking at the group buy, the limit was 280 for HDN, which is quite similar to the number karel gets for the majority of film arena releases. Obviously with this one selling out so quickly some people will have missed it and are going to be disappointed about that. I'm obviously biased because I was online as the group buy went up and got my copies but this is part and parcel of collecting, you can't get always get everything you want.
For me personally, this was the best film i saw last year, which is why I wanted this release. I collect films which i have really enjoyed to keep in my collection and I will occasionally get hard to get releases so I can trade them for steels that I have missed out on.
The 2 limit per member is pretty common for group buys and if you've missed out on this release then I'm sure there will be others willing to trade with you so that you can have it yourself. In my opinion you have to take your opportunities when they arise to you (within reason of course).

I've always felt this way for for all group buys for at least the 1st day...after that anything goes.
