question comes to mind they want to celebrate 2 years of steels, why oh why didn't they do one of 2 things come up with a new exclusive or make a steel that collectors have been wanting made for a long time that have not been done at all now that would have been something to really shout about!

we do have a nice huge thread on the matter that snooloui set up with schindlers list sitting at the top that would have down rather well with alot on here.

@apsmith21 do zavvi ever intend to make any of those in our list could you please ask your contact if he could comment on that at all???

many thanks
basil

 sometimes reading these threads can be more entertaining than collecting the steelbooks themselves.

I think this will only work as a 'celebration' as long as the price tag is the same as the original. I don't know what that was as I bought mine from a third party seller.. my first zavvi exclusive was finding nemo at £16.99, so I assume wfrr was around that price.

I have to say that (going by that pic in the op) I much prefer the original red, this may end up looking very nice..not sure if I need it twice though:D

Of course it's a cash grab! They're a freakin' retailer. Every promotion they do is a cash grab. The fact that they sell Steelbooks at all is a cash grab. Zavvi isn't some exclusive collector's club here to cater to the value of your personal collection. They are trying to make a profit. That is ALL they're trying to do. Every decision they make is tracked by how much money it brings in. So, if you don't want something just don't buy it.

You know how many collectors that got into the game late are probably ecstatic that this is being released? There are so many Steelbook releases nowadays; some are directed toward veteran collectors and some toward the newer collector. It's not like they just re-released it exactly the same. It's distinguishably different. Nothing unfair about that. If you don't like something that's being released then focus on the ones you are happy about. Allow other people to have a positive experience about some new Steelbook they're excited for. There is not a finite amount of space for releases. A catalog title getting released does not impede the release of some title you wanted. If they're going to release it, they'll release it.

This is nothing more than a way for Zavvi to make money. It's not supposed to be anything more. So, if you're unhappy that Zavvi isn't being "fair" to you simply speak with your wallet and don't purchase it. Move on to something else. There's plenty to choose from. Stop being so proprietary. It's not all about you.

People double dip all the time just because the slip has slightly different text on it but this they rage over. As much as I love a bit zavvi bashing I think it's good they've done this. It's nothing new and collectables have had this sorta thing done since the days of trading cards when you'd want so bad that foil version of the one you already have. It's a collectable collectable. Good on Zavvi
