Ordered for now, not much cheaper than a premium though so I might cancel depending on what Manta have to offer. Does anyone know why the price would change when I added it to cart? Went up to 40.33 but the listing is still showing as 39.99. Not enough to complain about, I just find it a bit weird.
Germany VAT rate is 19%, UK VAT rate is 20% (which is used when shipping to the UK).
When shipping to another EU country, all European Amazon sites collect the VAT of the destination country.
and once UK is out of EU and customs union, it will be even more worse (VAT deducted at source but added by customs 20% + RM handling fee) for anything above 15.
Thanks, I was just wondering if that might be the case, never noticed it before.
Amazon should be ok, when I order from the US I always pay import fees up front to avoid the RM ransom, I would expect them to do the same with the EU sites. It's probably going to cause problems with other sites though.
Vat is different in each country Amazon use the VAT rate based on address be shipped to
Mine for example is Rep of Ireland €41.34 before shipping
VAT rate in Rep of Ireland is 23%
UK is 20%
Germany Vat rate is 19% so it would be €39.99 if shipped to an address in Germany before shipping
Mine to the U.S. was only 33 Euros, but I'm lucky because there are no additional shipping charges or taxes. I don't know how you collectors in the UK can stand the extra cash not to mention having your packages opened. I've been collecting for almost 5 years and have never gotten a package that had been opened by customs.

However, my pre-order is showing at EUR 40.33 (i.e. the €39.99 price at UK VAT rate), plus postage, so glad I placed my pre-order prior to the temporary price drop...
Amazon USA do this because EU made them do this and applies to EU Countries
Import fess deposit is used with Items ordered from Amazon USA to all EU countries if item ordered is over the import threshold to avoid vat
When UK leave EU it will depend on what agreement UK do with EU regarding customs and import and export of goods
Amazon USA after UK leave EU it's very possible import fees deposit will not be used automatically for items to be delivered to UK address

It doesn't apply to all EU countries, e.g., Finland.
I still pay VAT for Amazon US shipments at customs. Luckily we don't need to pay any fees for customs processing of items arriving via post.
Amazon should be as instructions came from the EU themselves that amazon do this
It was was phased in at various stages with EU countries last year some was done earlier than others
Might be Amazon USA not have it on their system yet for Finland but they are meant to
I've been doing it for a lot longer than a year, and not just at Amazon, I think it was always an option though. I didn't realise Amazon had made it automatic, I thought it had just remembered my choice

I liked to not use that option and take a gamble on not been hit by customs which most time I did manage to avoid
All that got changed last year Amazon changed the standard shipping to Global Standard Shipping with auto import fees deposit included if cost of item after shipping was over the import threshold it's different depending on what EU country you based
There is a error though in amazon system when price drops with pre order price promise in your order it still keeps the imports fee deposit as part of the price even when price drops can be enough to avoid import fees deposit
I always end up reordering when price drops and cancel older order to avoid or reduce the import fees deposit if the price has dropped enough to avoid it you would get your import fee deposit back if you contacted them after been shipped I just find it easier to reorder to avoid all that

I got paranoid after having some banned films seized in the early days of the internet, and instead receiving a few letters threatening court action if I persist in trying to import them, I try to avoid dealing with customs as much as possible since then
Any news concerning the back art? I hope they will not just interchange back and front from the WWA.
