Was happy with my replacement copy, but seems alot of these steels have servre issues, wether they are scratches or dents.

Also could we get the thread title updated to reflect that 3D is included also ;)

I picked mine up from Solihull store, had a good look in shop seemed okay, opened it to find that the corners have not been formed properly, so the inside of the steelbook doesn't fit. Can't get it to open and close correctly, annoying the **** out of me. The backs all loose , looks as if this is some thin ass steel, which must of caused some manufacturing defects. Mine must have slipped through QUALITY CONTROL  oh well looks like a 5 mile journey again tomorrow to get it replaced.

I had pretty much a stand up row with the guy in the Stevenage HMV branch about changing a steel for the second time. The discs are fine sir he said your missing the point of steelbooks i said. HMV exclusives will be the only reason for buying steels from them again

They totally got the point in Oxford Street when I exchanged my dented Edge of Tomorrow. They said "you don't want that when you've paid extra [over the standard Amaray] for it".

Hi mate.

I went to the same store. I opened the first one in store, with lots of scratches on the front. I then opened the second copy and at first glance, it looked perfect. I got home and found a few tiny "dings" on the back.

I would suggest you open it in store and have a good look at it. However, it seems that avoiding a slight scuff, chip or scratch if going to be difficult. It is possible these flaws were caused before they got packaged up. I may also pop and pop in and give it one more try. The least they can do is discount for the damaged steelbook.

It's finding the time. The staff at the store are not the greatest either - they just don't get it.

Good luck with it anyway

It's a real shame to hear all the problems Ninjas have been having with this release.
I must be one of the lucky ones as mine was mint. I hope everyone ends up with decent copy as I think this is really nice Steelbook, the best X-Men one to date.

Is this now a sign of the times that so many steels are coming out made at minimal cost with minimal quality control.

HMV staff need to be educated in why they are selling steel books it seems

My copy I had was dented!! Went back to exchange and after 15 minutes finally got an exchange. Is there anything wrong with the disc sir, no mate it's the case, it's dented. But the discs are ok sir, yes but the case is not.......... I think you all know how this conversation went! And HMV wonder why they nearly went under!!

I had same problem with my local HMV. Went to pick up this and Godzilla and they had them stacked in these silly metal shelves so that when they were stacking them on or you were removing them, the bottom scraped the shelf, hence why almost all of them had the paint scratched off them along the bottom!!!

Another HMV release I did not like the look of and skipped, I had hoped the back and inside artwork would be better. HMV steelbooks seem to have dipped in quality and handling seems to be poor at some stores, judging by the two last releases. I hope this improves with future releases and Ninjas are able to get a good copy, which they should be entitled to.

Some of these HMV stores are ignorant, asking why buyers are returning damaged steelbooks, it's simple were paying for a premium product and are collectors, we want steelbooks in good condition with no defects or damages. These are not some cheaper plastic cases, that you can replace cheaply or swap over from your existing collection easily. However I would not even accept a damaged plastic Bluray case from HMV, so asking why you want to return a damaged steelbook, would be a stupid question.

I decided to go back with my damaged copy today to HMV Solihull. The same supervisor dude was behind the till. I told them to bring over a few copies for me to open and check.

I told them that this release has serious QC flaws. "Well it's the first one I've had come back" said dude behind the till. He came over with 7 copies - I think he was trying to be sarcastic. So true to form, I took him up on the challenge

Copy 1, 2, 3 opened with dents. Copies 4 and 5 - scratches to both sides. Copy number 6 - Huge dent! Copy number 7, scratched.

In the end I took of the rear of opened copy number seven and then swapped it with my original copy, which was already damage free- the result.... One mint steelbook. It took EIGHT copies and a changeover of the rear plate to get that. For a 21.99 exclusive steelbook, that's ridiculous.

I asked for a HMV sticker, but after the death stare from the staff, I got the message :hilarious:

Here she is: :)

:p

Screw the Staff, you're the customer! If you're paying for ALL that DAMN money you better get a MINT copy! I'm glad to know I'm not the only pain in the ass when I go to stores! :D

The quality control on this release is shockingly poor. My copy looked perfect sealed but once opened I can see several hairline scratches on upper front right. Can't be bothered to exchange and deal with the aholes behind the counter.

I got the same response, "But the discs are fine" lol Stupid HMV shouldnt sell collectable steelbooks if they have no knowledge on them.

was impressed at how quick Dave got these shipped out for his GB - was waiting for me when I got home last night!! THANK YOU!!!

All well except for a small faint as heck (luckily) scratch/scuffs on the top right of the front - its only noticeable if you angle it to catch the light really so cant complain, but it does seem a shame that this release has had so many issues :(

All it takes is a nice and strong email from the boss about how to handle Steels and enforce it as a company policy that poor QC and manhandling won't be tolerated
Poor QC? Do you expect HMV to unwrap every copy, check for hairline scratches, and then shrinkwrap them again?

Since the scratches are exactly in the same area as mine this must be a manufacturing defect.
