Zavvi pre-orders requiring cash up front

My cynical sixth sense is tingling here...

Glad I spotted this, as I tend to just put their emails straight to trash. Bad move, since many releases at the moment are UK wide, so I'll just use HMV and Amazon. Not giving them money upfront for an item with no art or release date, thats just bonkers. I'm sure Trading Standards would also not look too kindly on that, as a company in the past was told not to do it.

As long as you can still cancel at any time before street date- no big deal.
It is a big deal because:

- They are holding your money and making money from it instead of you
- If you are someone who pre-orders many things, items that u must pre order otherwise you miss out then
having to order multiple things that can release in 2 months or 6 months and pay upfront isn't acceptable.
- Many can only spend monthly dependent on wages, so u will quickly hit a limit.
- Those Beta Axe exclusives, if this policy had applied back when they were put up for pre-order it would already be
over 6 months of holding your money. I asppreciate they are still in stock but it's a gamble to not order sometimes.

HMV and Amazon will massively benefit from this.
I can see an even bigger drop off with Zavvi.

Absolutely. They've effectively F'd themselves on pre orders.
