Really happy that play.com has more great Steelbooks coming our way, but I would be even more happy if my last shipments would finally arrive. Almost a month and still no Iron Man 2 & Bourne Trilogy.

hope it have same artwork because the english version dont have german languages and the german one i cant afford because all non germans bought it. so i hope for a price drop on the german one with german language.

play.com has to either start shipping worldwide or stop hogging all the exclusive steelbooks! Here's yet another one that I know I'll end up buying.

What you have been seeing lately is play exclusives suddenly popping up in other countries' releases...no more exclusivity for Play.com

Hi guys-as has been stated a few times before throughout the forum-and not pertaining to this release, necessarily, just a reminder-'Exclusive' for a specific country refers just being exclusive to that country only, unless it is referred to as a 'Worldwide art Exclusive' by the retailer, or something like that (Futureshop has had a few of these, for instance).

If the same art, or Steelbook appears in another country, that is the studio's final decision. In that case, if they choose to then make it an exclusive for a specific retailer they can, or they can sell it at all retailers. I've been collecting for years, and it seems to me that retailers like Play have at least made an effort to release some interesting covers recently and try to convince the studios that we're all looking for unique releases and for the most part, not recycled covers already used. Since the studio makes the final decision, all we can do is try to buy the one we like the best-there is always a risk that a studio will decide later to release them elsewhere-with same or different cover. It's always been part of the game for double and triple dipping their cash cows and popular releases (i.e The Terminator franchise, and many many others). Enjoy your collections and the 'hunt'. :scat:

Please play.com - take the german artwork and add some awesome embossing/debossing.

Everyone would be happy, as there will be a difference between the two releases ;) keep it simple, people want the german artwork.

Collectors don't want regurgitated artworks in re-releases. We want something different as it just makes it not collectable anymore if your going to re-release the same art over and over.

How about doing the opposite of the German one and have the characters on the frong and the world on the back. That would be a win win and I would buy it then. If its the same I will stay away.

Just asking, would you get this if it were the same artwork as the DE one but with de/embossing :D

I really want the same artwork.

This is just like when iron man play.com had been announced and there were concerns of it being the same as iron man fs.

If the value wasn't as high for the German one there would be far less fuss. There have been plenty of re-releases but only the high price ones get this much attention

Play.com if you release this with the same artwork it will still sell out and all collectors that refuse to pay ridiculous prices will be very happy :D

There has not been many re-releases where they are the same. Germany at least puts a printed logo on theirs to make the original the one to get.

I am getting ready to unload a large part of my collection as it really is no point in collecting if they are gonna keep them the exact same.

Mate if you decide to unload a large part of your collection i will be first in the queue :hilarious:

Joking aside I really doubt the artwork will be the same..whatever artwork I will be buying

Why would you get rid some of your collection? If you like the film and like he artwork why does it matter how many times it gets re-released? I agree that some re-releases are unnecessary, but for a title like this which is out of the real of most collectors, it is a nice option. I hope for the same reasons as you that the design is slightly different though. We don't want to see the same Steelbook released over and over. I think that Iron Man Play.com Exclusive one-upped the FS version and I think this one will to.

The whole point is the collecting rare stuff. If they keep re-releasing then it is no longer rare. I will just move on to something else that is rare like stamps or cards or something. I don't open the cases and watch the movie. I have netflix send me discs in the mail for that purpose. In other words the studios are just going to lose sales from me. Thats alot to lose from just one collector as I buy more than 1 of said title.

Basically all I will end up doing is selling the new titles that get released on ebay and amazon and no longer collecting titles I think will become rare.

I'm in sympathy with chipvideo here.

On the one hand all these re-releases are great because a lot of people can now own previously unaffordable titles like Zombieland and Iron man.

But to me the steelbook format no longer has the prestige and collectability it once had. Frankly steelbooks are becoming almost as commonplace as slipcard amaray releases now. Companies like Play.com flooding the market with cheap releases might be a good way for them to hook new buyers, but many long-term collectors - including me - have lost a lot of interest recently. I just don't view steelbooks as being so rare and desirable anymore, and I too will probably be sizing down my collection as a result. To me it's now just another format option, and one I don't get too excited about anymore. To be of interest as a collectable to me, something has to have rarity value. And that fun of hunting down rare steelbooks just isn't there anymore - I'll just wait for it to be re-released somewhere instead.

I wonder in fact how many steelbook 'completists' there are out there now. Not too many, I'm willing to bet.
