During the first week of the Hollywood Box Office summer movie season we saw Thor holding the number one spot. Now that we have entered the second week of the summer movie season we see that Paramount’s Thor still maintains its number one spot and remains at the top with the box office crown. It seems that none of the latest films have been able to be a threat for the Marvel Comics super hero film and in spite of 48% drop, its gross total of $34.5 million in this second weekend managed to keep Thor at the top. What is even more impressive is that ‘Thor’ has been having equal success overseas as well and over the weekend the Marvel Comics super hero film was able to excel ahead of the $100 million mark.

While certainly enough no film this week was able to steal the number one position from ‘Thor’, credit must surely be given to the newest comedy film produced by Judd Apatow. Bridesmaids which is a film that is majorly female drive exceeded everyone’s expectations with a huge box office success of $24.4 million that it made it to the second spot at the box office rankings. In spite of its genre the film was given an R-rating. The cast members of the film include Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph. ‘Bridesmaids’ can certainly be identified as a film for the adults but surely they are going to enjoy it and get enough laughs out of it.
