FAN EXPO: A Look at Spawning Pool Studios

While walking the Fan Expo floor on Thursday, something quite unbelievable caught my eye. That something was the incredible arrangement of sculptures that was put on display by Spawning Pool Studios. Amongst a painted Batman, Ghost Rider and Selene (UNDERWORLD) were goliath-sized statues for Venom, Juggernaut and Hulk… some of the most impressive sculpts that I’ve ever seen on a superhero statue.

Due to the fact that I was slightly awe-struck, I took a moment to chat with Sheridan Doose (sculpture/digital/concept art) of Spawning Pool Studio. In doing so, I found out that he was the son of a father/son team at Spawning Pool (his father, Henning, wasn’t present at the time). Sheridan sculpts most of the larger-scale pieces while his Dad sculpts the smaller ones.

To find out more on their work, you can visit their Web site or check them out on their Facebook page. In the meantime, check out the photos of their work below to see why I had a hard time not drooling.
