Synopsis
In an all-new story, The Dark Knight travels to a land ruled by sword-wielding Samurai and ninja assassins. Beginning in Gotham City, Gorilla Grodd’s time-displacement machine malfunctions, sending a crazed cast of tyrannical villains back in time to terrorise medieval Japan….
Picture Quality
WOW! This film looks absolutely gorgeous in places, with bright and vibrant colours filling the screen and looking sharp. Although labelled as a Batman film, there are hardly any moments that are set in the shadows we’ve become accustom to when following the Dark Knight. A lot of the movie takes place during the day time, which is perfect to showcase the art style on display. The film even takes a turn and changes up the animation for a brief dreamlike sequence involving Red Hood and two famous Bat-Rouges. If you are a fan of bright, stylistic animation, then this is the Batman film you’ve been looking for.
Sound Quality
Although this is originally recorded in Japanese, I decided to view the English language version of the movie. Audio was clear and crisp, with the dialogue sounding sharp throughout. The score wasn’t too shabby, but I’m struggling to recall any moments in the film where it really stood out. However, this is a very visual movie, so the score naturally wasn’t the focus. The one major gripe I have is with the guy cast to voice the English language version of The Joker. The voice really doesn’t suit the character that is portrayed in this version of the Batman mythology and is a major miscast. I would love to know what everyone else thinks on this one ?
