Sources are reporting that a writer has just been hired by Warner Bros. to take on the resurection of Lethal Weapon. The "buddy cop series" already has a director in place (Zombieland helmer Ruben Fleischer) and this writer's been brought in because of his experience as a former LA police officer.

It was the studio's original plan to forge ahead with a Lethal Weapon 5, reuniting the original cast for audiences to enjoy. But schedules conflicted and the WB decided they really didn't want anything to do with Mel again. So now, they're starting from scratch.

In one way I want Mel, but in the other he was better in the first couple Lethal Weapons rather than the latter.
