ENTERTAINMENT ONE RELEASES MONSTERS: DARK CONTINENT SPECIAL STEELBOOK BLU-RAY

Entertainment One announces that it will release a special steelbook alongside the standard DVD and Blu-Ray for its home entertainment launch of Monsters: Dark Continent.

Featuring specially commissioned exclusive artwork by up-and-coming artist Matt Ferguson, who has previously produced stunning exclusive artwork for Marvel and Disney’s Guardians Of The Galaxy and Avengers: Assemble.

Directed by Tom Green, Executive Produced by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) and starring Johnny Harris (Atonement, Snow White and the Huntsman, War Horse), Joe Dempsie (Skins, Game of Thrones, The Damned United) and Sam Keeley (This Must Be The Place, What Richard Did, The Borgias), Monsters: Dark Continent is the nerve-shredding sequel to cult sci-fi thriller Monsters.

Ten years on from the events of Monsters, the 'Infected Zones' have now spread worldwide. In the Middle East a new insurgency has begun. At the same there has also been a proliferation of Monsters in that region. The Army decide to drab in more numbers to help deal with this insurgency.

After a NASA deep space probe crash landed in Mexico, menacing extra-terrestrial life forms emerged. Now, so-called 'Infected Zones' have spread around the globe. With humanity in retreat in many parts of the world, the US is moving to protect its overseas interests. Giant, terrifying sand bugs infest the Arabian Desert, so troops have been sent in to firebomb the creatures, carting their bodies away on giant trucks to be incinerated. In this hostile environment, two soldiers are sent on a high-risk rescue mission.

Gareth Edwards' original Monsters was nominated for a BAFTA and led to him directing the recent Godzilla reboot. He returns as executive producer of this gripping continuation of the story. Monsters: Dark Continent is the directorial debut of another up and coming talented filmmaker, Tom Green, who shot much of the film on location in the extraordinary landscapes of Jordan.

Just watching this right now. Oh dear....

Let's just say, the steelbook is poor and the movie is too to match it.

The whole thing is pointless. I think 'Monsters' was only attached to the title to cash in because you hardly see them in it. Only when our main characters see a bit of action, a monster always manages to show up at the same time and get taken out by an airstrike!!!

Main story has nothing to do with them. None of the characters are likeable. It doesn't help that they have a bunch of brits and an Irish guy portraying U.S. Marines. Never works.

Oh dear, I have another half hour to go yet. Already nodded off!! It's so slow and boring! I never go by reviews and watch films myself and make up my own mind. But I should have known it was going to be bad when the box mentioned it was 'Cloverfield meets The Hurt Locker'!!!

So glad I didn't blind buy this.

Couldn't agree more. Its ridiculous how a film called Monsters barely shows any actual monsters. I should have learned after the first one (but the original is much better).
And the film plays out like a standard, by the numbers war film. Its like the producers bought a film and decided to CGI some monsters into a few scenes. Just for fun. An absolute mess.

It's not even a good war film. The pacing is soooo slow. Needless lingering shots. Some in slow motion to drag it out even more.

At 90 mins I had enough and thought 'this must be nearly over'. To find it's 2 hrs long!

Without meaning to give anything away... it doesn't get any better. I got massively irritated with its slow pacing, especially after that 90 minute mark. Just wanting it to end!

I had to chuckle at that, it reminded me of the time a friend of mine at work watched the Charlize Theron film 'monster' I asked him what he thought of it and he replied ' it was ****, there wasn't any monsters in it, it was about some woman going around killing people'

watched recently. not that bad. the beginning with all gung-ho stuff was boring. but when got into the 'dark continent' it got better. might get when cheaper.

loved the idea that men are the real monsters. not the monsters.

which is something many did not get IMO.

The fact the whole film is about U.S. Marines in the middle east pretty much makes it a war film. And it doesn't get better after the opening. It just stays consistently sh1t!

I 'got' your spoiler about 3/4 the way through. But by that point I was beyond giving a rats ass!

One of the worst films I've sat through. And I watch anything!

so Top Gun is a war film as it's about Navy Pilots. ???
so Crimson Tide is a war movie as it's about US Navy. ???

etc. lol.
