Serena - -
You'd think Bradley Cooper plus Jennifer Lawrence makes for at least a decent movie. Nope, you'd be very wrong. Aside from seeing Jennifer Lawrence act crazy a few times, there's nothing redeeming about this movie. Too boring and too cliche. If a movie isn't traditionally 'good' from a story or character standpoint, then at least make it entertaining. This was a horrible mix of a movie that is both not good and not entertaining. Easy skip for most unless you're a die hard fan of the actors.

Slow West -

Simple story mixed some dark humor mixed and a decent action scene near the end. Cinematography and performances by Fassbender and Kodi were definitely the highlights. Ben Mendelsohn continues to be one of the best actors in the category of 'I've seen you somewhere but I don't know your name'. Short movie with a strong start and finish but an average middle section. Recommended for fans of Fassbender and for those interested in seeing a semi quirky western.

A Most Violent Year -

Had this Movie sitting on my pc for a minute now,but I had to clear space, so i qued it up.Good Movie has a throwback feeling.And Jessica Chastain, though. I need a ride or die like that.Good movie .I would recommend it.

Jurassic World -

I posted additional thoughts in the Jurassic World thread, but I rated this 4 Ninjas. Probably more like a 3 or 3 1/2, but that last action scene did it for me. One of my top movie moments of the year was that scene. Highly recommended for fans of the series and still recommended for folks looking for a decent popcorn film. Just don't expect a compelling story or anything smart other than the dinosaurs.

I was actually quite enjoying it until about half way through... think I'd already gotten everything I wanted from it by that point.

Unfinished Business - One more feelgood Vince Vaughn movie, if you are in to those, go for it.

Project Almanac - Its good to see that there is still hope for a good time travel movies.

Maggie - Just boring.

Seventh Son - Seventh son of the seventh son twice removed from the mothers side Old school dragon, knight, witch flick.

Fifty Shades of Gray - Had its moments but overall BOOORING!!!!

Stretch - Had a bunch of A-listers in it but still not that funny or interesting, except the Norman Reedus scene

likable little gem of a movie ,suppose comparisons i guess True Romance ,Bonnie and clyde etc.
Really enjoyed it thou love my gangster Mob kinda movies.
Female lead Rosie especially played a good part.

Jurassic World - Excellent.

Ex Machina - Watch The Machine instead.

The Machine - Marvellous, with a couple of moments that are eternal.

John Wick - Excellent, slick, violent and aware of it's own insanity

Equalizer - I am coming to the conclusion that I just do not like Denzel Washington

Hercules - Just not good enough, despite all the fine components.

Pompeii - The star of the film is a volcano with a poor script. No-one else stood a chance.

The Scribbler - Cleverly perverse and very, very good.

Kite - Brutal, visceral and highly entertaining. India Eisley playing a blinder.

Expelled From Paradise (Rakuen Tsuihou) - Lovely anime - charming in places - with beautiful visuals.

Harlock Space Pirate - Never have I encountered a film where the translation and decisions taken for the international cut have ruined a stunning anime so thoroughly.

Oliver Stones Alexander (Final Cut)..........................Watched his reworking of this movie last night and its much much improved over the theatrical release which was muddling and slow paced. This one has greater exposition,more battle scenes a longer running time and looks spectacular,its a re-cut in every sense of the word ,not just added footage but moving the Battle of Guagamela to near the beginning has improved it immeasurably. The battle scenes are epic in every sense of the word.

Granted it could have been improved with the gravitas of a real leading man,Farrell isnt too bad but lets remember Alexander was only 32 years old when he died...............a difficult task to bring to screen the sheer aura that the man must have possessed.Angelina Joelie is still over the top but there's a good supporting cast,gary stretch ex boxer is very good in his role and there's a fair bit of screen time for 2 ex game of thrones actors.
