I must say, I'm a bit disappointed they didn't go with the original slipcover.

Of course it makes perfect sense from a financial point of view: you'll want people who bought the amaray in September to buy the steelbook now, and one way to do that is to have different slipcovers.

But look at all the slipcovers they have released so far :

It's all heads & shoulders of a single character, it feels like a coherent series (King of Pigs (#003) would fit right in, too). Different styles, sure, but you can sense continuity, which will be broken with that new slipcover.

Now, I like that steelbook slipcover, and what's more, I'm sure it will feel good when you touch it, but I definitely wouldn't have minded if PlainArchive had offered the option to include the original amaray slipcover when you order the steelbook, kind of like what Kimchi did with the two Pianist full slips.

Yes! So glad that I skipped the amaray version and Plain followed the pattern of naming both slips (amaray and steelbook) with the same number: 006
I really like the look of the full slip, but my goodness! That 1/4 slip might be one of the greatest things they've ever designed. And that is saying a lot, since I've been a big fan of PA from the beginning. All in all it looks like PA has delivered another impressive package.

The continuity was broken with I Saw the Devil actually. The ISTD cover you posted was the amaray full slip. The steelbook full slip was the beautiful red PET slip. So if you really want continuity you'll have to pick and choose which PA versions you want to own.
Edit: losing my mind. There was obviously no amaray ISTD, but you still get my point. Maybe.

May not be the best ever (we still need to see the back), but you can't deny that it is a beauty; Especially considering they're using gold foil stamping on it. And what's wrong with English text? :dunno:.....[emoji14]
