Extra! Extra! Toshiba’s first Blu-ray player is out! The BDX 2000. It all started when they put in an application for BDA membership in August and now at the IFA show in Berlin they showed it for the first time ever. Although it is not as fancy as we may all like it to be, it does have character, with a slim look and a flip down front panel which keeps it looking smooth. Tech specs include, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and Bit stream over HDMI. It supports 1080p/24p playback and is BD live. Plus view capable with Ethernet connection. The player decodes DivX HD and AVCHD video and also has SD and SDHC card slots.
Reportedly the player plans to drop State side 4th quarter of 2009. Where as in the UK the player plans to drop at the end of the year if not 2010. The player’s suggested retail price should be right around the price of $249.99.
