iPhone can talk Blu Ray now!

You have the marketing geeks at Universal to thank for this one.

They’ve launched a free mobile app “Pocket BLU” with which your iPod Touch or iPhone can be used to control your networked Blu Ray devices over WiFi.

Some of the features of Pocket BLU from Universal Studios Home Entertainment include a remote control to access disc features, a timeline display that lets you skip to any point in the movie, a keyboard display for data entry, and a list of movies available in Blu Ray so that you can download bonus content for later viewing.

There’s a grouse I had, though – The app, though free from Apple’s App Store, will work only with “Pocket BLU” enabled Blu Ray discs. That, like BD Live, will be a logo to watch out for.
