Camp Rock 2 Blu-ray Review

Camp Rock 2 is bigger and better! Well, atleast that’s what all the advertising has been pre disney channel release. So the question arises, is it? Sure it is in terms of music, special effects, and choreography. However, I did feel like it lacked a lot more substance this go round as far as having a well planned out plot like the first one. Which I’ve seen as well due to having an 8 year old daughter. Their are many upsides to this one though. The Jonas Brothers have a much bigger role, and one of the best songs comes from Nick. Demi has already had all of her character development out of the way from the first one, well for the most part.

Camp Rock has always been great fun for kids, and this one doesn’t disappoint. The kids are just getting all sorts of movies poured on top of them lately. Camp Rock, and Tomorrow Tinkerbell The Great Fairy Rescue. Camp Rock is everything that an adult would expect it to be, a predictable movie with songs sprinked all throughout. The Blu-ray however is definitely the version to get for kids and adults alike :p. Why? Well the triple play edition contains 2 new scenes that werent seen on tv. In addition you get the DVD version and digital copy. Which are more than useful for a family when kids are involved.

Camp Rock is decent for any parents wondering if its safe for their kids to watch, we do recommend it. It’s also a no brainer as I’m sure your kids have been begging you for it!

Sure Disney could have taken the short road with this one and not given this title its proper time for the video transfer treatment seeing as how its obvious age range of audience are not adults. However, that wouldn’t be the Disney way, and this title no different than say Prince of Persia or Toy Story got a great treatment as well. The video transfer is great, and their aren’t any instances of unintended film grain that would make you quinch or such. Sure there is a bit of small apparent grain in the night scenes but those are pretty hard to swerve around regardlessly. The tones and colors chosen for many sets made this stand out nicely. No real complaints here especially given it’s primary viewing audience.

When you got a movie that is damn near a sing-along, with tons of songs sprinkled throughout it’s absolutely required to have a proper audio transfer. The mixing needs to be tight and the mastering needs to be precise. Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam comes with a wonderful DTS HD Master 5.1 Audio Track. Sure it’s all pre-recorded, but if it was LIVE the quality wouldnt be near as great. That being said, you know something with this big of a budget was going to get grade A first class audio treatment. And it did. The kids will sing and dance and will want to watch this the day after their first viewing. Oh my, do you remember them days? These days you couldn’t pay me to watch the same movie two days in a row. 😉 Wonderful job on the audio quality for Camp Rock The Final Jam, recommended for that alone if your a Jonas or Demi fan.

Again point of notice, we do credit supplements for including such things as a digital copy and or bonus DVD version etc. In this addition we had both a digital copy and bonus DVD so that did bolster the rating of the supplemental section since in terms of special features this edition didn’t pack a punch. Which is kind of sad as you would think they could have got rights to some more Jonas Brothers or Demi Lovato Content to do so. However the edition of Digital Copy and DVD are HUGE in terms of movies for kids.

Rock Along Mode: A Karaoke like mode that ties in the songs of the film.
Getting to Know the Newest Stars: A short meet the cast experience.
Five Music Videos – 16 minutes

What can I say, I have an 8 year old daughter who loves both of the Camp Rock movies. This one is no different, If the kids love it, it’s good. From an adult standpoint, the video quality and audio quality were more than adequate. It’s good wholesome fun for the kids and teeny bops alike. The edition with the DVD and Digital Copy included is by far the best for the ease of access for where the kids can watch this movie. Disney doesn’t disappoint, even though they could have maybe had some more special features. Regardless, for those interested in this film Blu-ray Entertainment Center recommends it.
