It is likely that the Farelly Brothers ‘Hall Pass’ will be the box office winner this weekend. The movie an R-rated comedy is to face the competition for No.1 from ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’, as a 40 minutes director cut is added to the latter. This move is taken by the Paramount Pictures to encourage repeat viewing of ‘Never Say Never’ especially keep in mind the Justin’s female fan followings.
‘Never Say Never’ has already collected a heavy sum of $52.9 million while running into its third weekend. Hall Pass, a Newline movie is introduced by Warner Bros in 2,950 theatres. The movie starring Owen Wilson, Jason Sudekis, Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer seems to be a promising start for the siblings.
Nicholas Cage’s action movie ‘Drive Angry 3D’ could also be seen competing. However, the impact of this movie is not so profound. The movie is also starring Amber Heard along with Cage. Cage plays the role of a man who comes back from hell to protect his infant granddaughter from being sacrificed by a cult. This too is an R-rated movie. It’s being released by Summit Entertainment to 2061 theatres. 2012 of these will be 3D runs.
Both movies Drive Angry and Hall Pass are inviting male audiences to the theatre. Some of the young female audiences are also finding Hall Pass a bit exciting.
Drive Angry will have to battle with Unknown, Gnomeo & Juliet and I am number Four for the No.2 position.
