Tom Hanks to Act Again in Somali Pirates Movie

We all know that from quite some time we have been seeing Tom Hanks as more of the producer than an actor. Yet, finally Tom Hanks made up his mind to work on an acting project and you can certainly guess that it’s something big. Almost everywhere you look, specifically within the Oscars, Tom Hanks has chances of winning quite a lot of those, considering his own directorial efforts, or movies like Triple Frontier, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. In fact he is already a two time Oscar winner, so if he has actually chosen to act after such a long time, the project would surely be something worthy.

Tom Hanks is therefore all set to be playing apt. Richard Phillips, in a latest Somali Pirate film. He is going to be aboard Maersk Alabama, a cargo ship as helmsman who in order to have invading Somali pirates leave the ship, gives himself up as a hostage. This small plot snippet should have already sparked some interest and there is a lot of anticipation for this upcoming movie.

Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti, Scott Rudin, and Kevin Spacey, have all teamed up under Sony as the production team of this upcoming film, which has been adapted from a book called ‘A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea,’ and is in fact a memoir by Philip himself of the time he spent as a hostage. The screenplay for this film has been provided by Billy Ray, who is also working on ‘The Hunger Games.’
