Surprisingly enough what no one really expected turned out to become reality. When we thought that ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules’ would actually turn out to be box office wimp as well, actually ended up topping the list.

The previous film within the franchise fell short of making it at number one in the box office, but the sequel did not fall short and prove everyone wrong. The sequel actually once again follows Greg and Rodrick Heffley, the wimpy kids who have to deal with a variety of humiliations also coping with the fact that they are now adolescents and getting used to it. The film surely had an attraction for children but even the parents joined in as well. No doubt, it is quite an enjoyable family film with the necessary action along with a fair share of laughs. With Fox backing up the film, it should have in fact been obvious that the movie could have an unexpected success.

‘Super Punch’ is the movie that the Wimpy Kid sequel beat and excels over to the first spot, leaving Super Punch at the second position in the box office. The Wimpy Kid sequel in fact had a success of $ 24 million at the box office, with Super Punch falling short with its $ 20 million sale in tickets.

Now, that the sequel in the Wimpy Kid franchise has had such a success, you wouldn’t mind watching the original film as well. In fact, a better follow up of the story would be to catch a glimpse of the original first.
